How to wire rock lights into dome circuit???

Has anyone wired rock lights into their dome light circuit? I’ve searched and searched and come up empty handed! I really want to wire the rock lights so that when I hit the unlock button they come on with my dome lights. I’ve read that some 4Runner came equipped with lighted running boards and the wiring may be under the carpet but mine did not. I’m working with a 2007 SR5.

Search here and on Youtube for the 4runner dome or map light mod that wires the middle lights to the front ones. That should shed some light on the wires you can use. Depending on what you use for lights under the car, you may need to add a small relay.

you want the rock lights to turn on when you open the door?

I wired mine into my running board lights. Well I don't have a running board anymore, just sliders but i tapped into those plugs. Not sure if the wires are there for 4Rs that didnt come with light up running boards... but i would imagine so...
