Lets see....vehicles I've owned in the last 7 years....

07 Duramax...totaled
09 Tacoma....totaled
07 FJ...traded for the tacoma
09 Camry....had it for a month, couldnt stand having a car, traded that for the 4th gen 4runner
4th gen 4runner v8...traded it for my 5th gen

03 yukon xl
14 mitsubishi outlander
14 dodge ram laramie
16 VW GTI
17 VW Tiguan (just said goodbye to that POS)

current vehicles:

1999 Toyota 4runner SR5 4x4
2000 Chevy extended cab 1500 (has the 4.8 V8....casually looking for a 6.0)
1967 Jeep Jeepster Commando (all original, 45,000 miles, inherited)

Theres days I wish I had my 4th Gen again, and days I wish I had my 5th Gen. I like not having payments, however!!!

The one truck I wish I still had was my 07 Duramax.

Pretty much sums up why I went from a more roomy WJ Limited to the 3rd gen 4runner. It's just a simpler, rugged little rig. The big drop in power will keep me from doing foolish things. I'm looking forward to the first big snow when I can ram through a snow bank with the steel bumpers. I honestly think that I might be able to outfit this rig and enjoy an extended journey through the SW region of the country, and experience the Rubicon trail. That's one of the few things on my short bucket list that I really want to do.

I have two 4x4 - and when a snow storm hits, 1-1.5 ft. of hard packed is often sitting at the end of our driveway, thanks to the country snow plow trucks.
- wife has to get to work, before I have my coffee...op2:
- and she now drives an '08 RAV4 Limited v6-4x4
- quite capable of the roads, but tough to escape the filled in driveway

^^ So I hop in either my '98 Silverado or 2000 4Runnner SR5 and make some deep tire tracks, for her to follow...its a fun exercise, playing in the snow, until I get the John Deere 318 out with hydraulic snow blower & drive around on the garden tractor, getting the snow blow'ed off the pavement.

When I lived in the city, down a dead end street / the road corner was often filled in...going to work or coming home.
- always fun to hit the pile of snow, with some mph persuasion and try & get 4x4 truck to go sideways some
Several houses at the very end of the street didn't have access to my 4x4 tire tracks...so often would make the drive-able path for the neighbors.

190HP, unless you add a supercharger, headers, smaller pulley, etc. and push upwards of 280 HP!

Don't you have to switch over to premium fuel forever though? Some guy on here out a Lexus V8 in his. If I could swing that someday I would love to do it.

Cripes, you've gone through more vehicles in the last 7 years than I have in my 22 years of having a license, lol.

And in the list I posted before, 3 of those vehicles weren't even mine. The Tempo was my brother's, the Celebrity was my mom's. Those were cars I would borrow in the first 6 months of having my license because I didn't have my own vehicle yet.

I've only ever owned:
1984 Cavalier - 1.5 years - $200 purchase price
1987 Cavalier - 4 years - $1.5K purchase price
2001 Cavalier - 9 years - $24K purchase price (bought new)
2010 Matrix - 7 years - $29K purchase price (bought new)
1997 4Runner - 2.5 years - $4.5K purchase price

There were overlaps in ownership, so that's why the years wouldn't add up to 22.... but yeah. in 22 years, I've only owned 5 vehicles, lol.

I went to help with Harvey relief. I have a stock 1999 4 runner on 265 70 tires. That is the only thing not stock other than radio. I ended up pulling a trailer, moving pallets of water, no more than 1.5 pallets at a time because weight. Drove 900+ miles from Thursday morning to Saturday morning, drove through door handle deep water (how it didn't suck in the intake I have no clue other than God loves idiots) was sitting in water inside the cab, and when we came through the other side the only issue was the Speedo was working. When we found dry ground crawled under and blew out the connection for Speedo and back to 100%. Craziest weekend ever and it was all possible because my 20 year old truck with 225,000 miles is a beast. Thanks Toyota, and thanks to the forum for all the info, I don't post much. But I'm watching, always watching...

I owned the duramax new from 08' to when it got totaled in July 2012. I had just made the 2nd payment on the Tacoma when it got totaled on my birthday. (yes, I was dumb and rich enough in the army to afford two vehicle payments, stupidly) Was headed to gatlinburg...got rear-ended and pushed into the vehicle in front of us.

I'm not sure if its ADHD or what. I was great til I met my ex. After that it kind of went nuts. Oh yeah, I forgot the 89 Jeep cherokee wheeler I had. The ex sunk it in a hole at the local ORV site and killed the engine. I ended up having to part it out to pay for other things. I actually cried. That was the first vehicle I ever totally built and made the decisions on.

D35 front, D44 rear, detroit full case locker in the rear, 4.88 gears, 31x10.50's, RE ultimate 3.5 lift, JCR offroad bumpers front and rear, sliders, Tophat rack, Warn 9.5 Ti winch.

I'm at the point now where I like owning things outright. the '67 Jeepster is my inheritance from my grandma when she passed away a couple years ago. its bone stock with only 45000 miles. original everything. I plan on doing a complete restoration when I've got time and way more money. I've wanted that jeep since i was 5 years old. the 00' chevy is somewhat on the chopping block as the 4.8 engine doesnt have enough guts for what I need (pulling a 2 horse bumper pull trailer).

I'm coming from a 00 Tacoma. I'm actually trying to get my post count up. Been looking at runners all my life. Had a 00 4wd Tacoma in 2003 ish. Been looking at runners the last 6 months again. I didn't want a note so got a 02 sr5 4wd with leather and sunroof. Gonna sell the taco to offset price.

So it is letting me post pics!!

'99, 5 speed, SR5--Daily driver with 303000 miles--not uncommon to put 200 miles a day on it. Oh--yea--20+ mpg on cruise at 2500 rpm.
Oh lord do I love this truck. I am original owner. and yes it has to be rowed up hills.

I am not a big fan of my 2002 SR5 sport. Rough ride, tight quarters, uncomfortable seat, all in all, a huge change going from my 2008 tundra limited. It's a weak engine, loud (need to fix some minor exhaust leaks), and generally just isn't pleasant to drive. I'd rather drive my wife's ford explorer sport any day and with almost double the hp, it even gets better fuel economy...

This will sound harsh and a bit course, but I would rather be miserable in a Rav4 over an Explorer because I know that when it comes to maintenance and reliability, the Rav4 will ask for less and take me further. Furthermore, I could theoretically put 50K on it, sell it private party, and the residual value will be far more than any Ford product. That's the simple truth.


If I want a Ford Explorer, I can find plenty of them on a used car gravel lot.

In 102k miles we've put a set of tires on the ford replaced the battery, and had the oil changed every 10k miles. Ford recommended we change the transmission fluid next time it's in so that's going to happen also. Its every bit as reliable as my tundra was and my 4 runner has mostly been. The 3.5 ecoboost is a great engine and the vehicle overall is a blast to drive. I have no doubts the explorer will do 200-300k miles without a problem. Getting 17-20 mpg depending on my lead foot also.
