I Hate Mud

Post up your story or reason of why you hate mud.

No this is not in relation to the IH8MUD forum. Anyway, heres the story. I went with some buddies to the lake over the weekend. I got a little dirty and said to the hell with it, might as well go mud din. We went through some trails and a couple mud holes. Truck performed great and we didn't get stuck once. Long story short, I was cleaning the truck today and I discover that my passenger headlight has a good amount of moisture in it, along with some mud. Both clear turn signal housings have a decent amount of liquid in them, along with the running lights. Im pretty sure I can fix the turns and running lights by my self, but I'm afraid that I will have to buy a new headlight assembly. Anyway, I am very frustrated by this fact. Just wanted to share this with anyone that is considering mudding. Don't do it.

i have to deal with enough mud at work, I have a F150 that just won't die and a Nissan Titan that growls when in 4wd like an animal is caught under the truck, where I drive its in an oil sands mine, so the mud smokes when you park, not nice at all, steam pressure washing is the only way to get the underside clean where i work.

Take them off, bake them (you can fid all the recipe info for baking them on any retro fit thread) open them up.. Clean them.. re seal. And send me 20 bucks for saving you about 150 bucks. :cheers:

Thanks for the info. Now I just have to find a time to do this. Do you have a preference on sealant? Also, obviously I can't bake the turn and running light housings because they are plastic, so what do you suggest for those?

I'm think you can bake them because all 3 lights are made out of the same materials. And I've never baked before sooo find that recipe on rickshays? Retrofit and look up what he uses.. I recall you can bake if after your done and the glue will reheat and become adhesive again. And you can reuse it.. But silicone would prob work

I have a 97 but I got 99 blinkers on accident and they are just Chillin on my dining table if you want them. I payed 15 for them so you would too plus shipping which is cheap.
 
I hate mud, destroys the trails, makes tank traps, and it's what caused my closstes 4x4 spot to be shut down by the epa.

All in all, Its obvious that we all hate mud, and that I was just being a stupid teenager, but hey :happens:

Exactly! Its hard to relate sometimes. But we all learn from our experiences, and one things obvious, stay away from mud. It will **** you up. :redbrick:
 
Oh, I have another story, and another reason to hate mud. on our way to the lake, I was averaging 50 mph on a dirt/gravel road. Everything was going smoothly until I came across a muddy patch. It didn't look muddy, so I continued speed. When i hit it, I started to pull to the right, so out of instinct, I steered left. Well, that jerked me and my car hard to the right and i end up going up a steep incline on the side of the road. I almost flipped. Thankfully, I was able to correct myself (sorta) when going up the bank and I didn't go past my tipping point. All in all, I almost rolled my truck because I slid on some dang mud.

Also, I edited the first post.
 
I was going down a slope and slid into it, it was steep. And we almost flipped, then the idiot biatch who was on the rear pass side (the front drivers side was leaning) tried to get out! I yanked her ass in and told everyone to not move!

I slapped my rig in reverse and thankfully got us out of rolling. I nearly pissed my self. Ah, I do hate mud!!

Oh, don't worry, it still is a beauty. I take care of it like its a baby. And the road isn't usually muddy in that area, needless to say, my driving saved me on that one. Im no expert driver, but I can handle my girl pretty well. :lookout: Just want everyone to know quicksilver didn't hand over his beauty to a immature teenager. I may be stupid sometimes, but that truck is very important to me. Thats the only close call I've had so far.
 
I hate mud because it costs a lot to clean off and it ruins your truck. Pretty much any moving part on your truck hates mud also.
 
im not the one to talk since i've Fed up buncha times in mud but yeah at the end just stay away its not worth it.
 
I cant stand trying to get it from the lip on the front of the rear wheel well. Especially when a nice rock gets covered in mud and lodges itself in! I gotta admit at the right time though, its fun too play in. Dont shoot everyone, wrong place to say that! Hah:lmao:
