have been driving a 2018 Highlander for 3 weeks while my 02’ w/ 176k miles on it was being painted. I was afraid after getting back in I might not be happy with it any more and time to grow up and get something new. Talk about bells and whistles, radar, auto high beams, backup camera, lane diversion, blind spot warning and just tons of comfort and good mileage. Well screw that turns out I really missed my truck and will keep it. I have a car for comfort so saved 35k and feel pretty good about it.

I just bought an Avalon for comfort. Much more interior room, better highway fuel economy than a Highlander. My 4 Runner is for hauling junk and going off road.
 
I totally get it! When my '98 SR5 finally died after a long illness, we debated getting a new/almost new Tahoe/Suburban after driving a couple rentals and loving them. HA! Then I went out and bought my sweet new-to-me '99 Limited and it was the best $45k I ever saved! 4runner all the way :)

Same here I use it for work ,hauling trailer, boat, hunting and when it snows. LS 460 for comfort. While we are at it I’m wondering what it takes to add trd rims to stock setup- spacers, hubs I have no idea. Someone locally is selling a set of 4 runner rims from his new 18 for $900 but don’t think I like the sliver look anymore and leaning towards black.

SO many better choices out there and for that money you'll get new lugs and even installation and balancing.
 
I have a 2018 4runner, 96 F150, 2016 F150, 1970 Fiat, and just picked up a 1998 4runner. Guess which is my fav? [emoji6]

I have to agree... My '98 which I got in 2003 is the best vehicle I've ever had.

By the way... The clearcoat on mine is in bad shape... Can I ask what I'm looking at for a nice paint job like that?

Hard for me to think about getting a 20+ year old car painted. Assuming it'll be $5,000 or so.
 
Crossovers are gross. If you want an SUV, it better be an SUV. None of this FWD based increased ride height foreplay. Otherwise, a station wagon is a better vehicle, and a minivan is more honest about what it is.
 
My Nissan Leaf is still way more fun to drive on the road. But it has limits...

At least it is a 2012 so it isn't connected to the internet, I don't think. Don't want that, the government could shut it down anytime if it was.

You have a lot of white smoke there, sure you don't have a head gasket problem?
 
It was a foggy day and just condensation on start up. Engine is solid well maintained running AMS oil since day one. Also did the B&M trans cooer last year. Insurance paid to have the front end painted after being hit included hood,fenders and bumper (all new one parts) and I made a deal with the body guy for another 1500 cash to paint the rest of the truck which didn’t need any body work. I also changed the windshield since the old one was pitted and sun strip at the top totally faded. I made out on the deal and couldn’t be happier. Going to upgrade the rims once I wear out the tires on there now and also a new head unit and amp. I’m also considering a Borsa muffler and scangauge. My 16 year old daughter wil be the coolest kid on the block when she takes it to school. Currently looking at a chaparral boat with the extra money but wife said something about college tuition I think but wasn’t paying attention.

Crossovers are for people who want an SUV, but never use an SUV for what it's made for. However, that's apparently what people want nowadays, it's a glorified car/station wagon. Can't tell you how many SUV's I've seen for sale and the owner says "4WD works fine I never used it". Kinda sad really.

Crossovers are the most popular type of vehicle by sales volume right now. I mean, even Lambhorgini is making one! https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/models/urus
