I need some advice

So after 10 days of waiting.. I finally picked up my lower..

and when I paid for it 10 days ago.. the gentlemen that rang me up scanned it and it was lower than it was marked for.. I asked again before giving him my plastic card.. The total was almost $200 dollars compare to $310 (cost of the complete lower)

When I signed the paperwork 10 days ago, the paper stated it was paid in full and all sales are final..

come today, I went it and the gentlemen was like.. it was rang up wrong.. I was like.. okay.. how much do i owe you? he said $180.. so now my total is close to $400 compare to the $200 I paid 10 days ago..

my question is, is it my fault that it was rang lower than it is marked for? am I the one accountable for the employees mistakes?

if not, should I go back and talk to the manager about it? cause why do I have to pay for the employees mistake when it wasn't my fault?

thanks guys..

If you have a receipt indicating it's paid for, then it's paid for and they owe you a lower. They don't get to change the price after you've paid for it but before you picked it up. Stick to your (hah!) guns and don't pay the extra.

If you don't have an actual receipt it gets stickier - your "paperwork" might be a contract and it might not.

I do have a copy of the receipt of the lower paid for 10 days ago.. and when I did the paper work for it, it stated everything has to be paid full during the purchase of it

if it is my fault, I would pay for my mistake.. but why is that I have to pay for their mistake when it isn't my fault to begin with..

Do I still have a chance to talk about this? or am i screwed? since I paid for it already..

thanks.

You already gave them the extra? You're probably screwed. You can try talking to the manager or owner, but employees don't normally do something like that unless they were told to by their manager in the first place.

yeah..

it was only 2 employees there when I picked up my lower today.. and neither of them has an name tag.. no title or anything..

it left a pretty bad taste when I walked out from the store to be honest..

the whole way home, it didn't sat too well in my stomach..

I'm going back on friday, cause why should I pay for someone else's mistake?

I think you're paying for your mistake at this point, but give it a shot. Be respectful but firm. Make it clear that you won't accept anything less than your $180 back, or in store credit at the least. Have your receipts, and make sure they say exactly what you think they say. Be ready to threaten small claims court, and be ready to follow through with that threat. Good luck.

At the very least the owner should agree to give you the lower for the 310 amount that was originally the price for work. People are people we all make mistakes and when the employee doesn't stand up and say he did wrong, the owner should. Reputation is precious for small business owners and if you handle yourself calm and respectful the owner should realize that by making things right he will guarantee a return customer. If not do you best to let other local people know they aren't a good business to deal with. BBB, social media, local gun forums other shops. Bad news travels fast in a specialized business.

Hope it woks out for you, and let us know what happens

you are on the money Land Cruiser.. it was an Spike's complete lower.

It was $310 marked but the guy at the register rang it up as just an lower.. I asked him again if the price was correct and he acknowledged it..

Kev,

I'm thinking of going in with this.. 'on Monday, I came by your shop to pick up my lower and upon receiving it, one of your employees noted it was an different item. and the employee asked me to pay the difference of it however, according to my receipt plus the paperwork I signed noted the firearm was paid in full on the day of purchase. why is that the mistake wasn't mine, but I have to pay for it? '

would that be okay?

Tim,

thank you for the reply. It would have sat better in my stomach on the way home if they acknowledge that fault was on their and apologize.. but they didn't and that to me is very unprofessional.

the employee just straight up told me ' the item is different and now you owe $180 dollars.' I understand humans make mistakes, everyone does and no one is perfect.. but the way they handled it was very rude and unacceptable.

Ok, hang on. Now you're providing details that weren't clear earlier. If all the guy at the register rang you up for was a bare lower, and all you paid for was a bare lower, then that's all they owed you. If you came in to pick up your order and the new guy at the register noted that what you paid for and what you were picking up were different and wanted to you pay for the rest of your order, there's nothing wrong with that. If you'd come in and gotten your loaded lower for a bare lower price, well and good, but you can't ***** that they caught their mistake and asked you to pay a fair price for the item they're selling. Assuming I'm now understanding the situation correctly, there's nothing unfair going on here and they aren't ripping you off or taking advantage of you. They charged you the price you expected to pay in the first place, and you paid it, and everybody should be happy.

I can totally understand that Al, and I hope the owner does what's right and takes care of you. Nothing pisses me off more then someone covering their mistake with rudeness instead of owning up to it.

Good luck man! I know you've received some great advise and will now have multiple opinions validating your thoughts on the situation. Be sure to share with the owner how bad his employees treated you.

I do have to agree with KidV though. If that's what's truly going on, item being priced as marked

Kev,

I would have been okay and happy about it if they would have acknowledge for their mistake, but the fact that they didn't. if i made an mistake, i would take full responsibility of it no questions asked but i wasn't the one that rang it up here. it was the employee that scanned it at the cash register.

Tim,

It really irradiated me when I walked out of the store.. if they stood up to the plate, ' hey, sorry we made a mistake on our part and I'm sorry for the troubles it caused'. i would have been happy about it. but they didn't own it up for an mistake on their part.

that to me left a very very bad taste in my mouth. I would take full responsibility of it if i screwed up on my end.. but to have them not owning on to their mistake, to me that's unprofessional.

i'm going back friday to have a word with their manager.

Did you ever resolve this? I was just at my LGS picking up my latest toy. I posed this same scenario to the owner of the store for his view on the matter. He just chuckled and said, "the store should eat the loss. Better to take the loss of a few dollars now and keep a customer who will spend hundreds of dollars in the future. That customer will tell his friends about his positive experience and bring in new customers." I agree completely with that view. Technically the transfer doesn't occur until you sign the 4473 at time of pick up and transmit the sale to DOJ. They could be d!cks about it pull the parts from the lower and hand you a stripped lower. But that's a horrible business practice. If they did do that, a Lower Parts Kit can be had for way less than $180 (just search AR15 lower parts kit) and installed in 15 minutes. Good luck, hope everything works out for ya.
