I neglected her and now she's mad

I got a new truck a month ago and I let my 4Runner sit, undriven for a month. She fired right up, but now it seems like there's hesitation. It chugs and shudders when I accelerate. I got the flashing check engine light at one point.

The first thing I did was put fresh gas in and that seemed to help a little. I put half a tank in and drove about 75 miles trying to flush out the old gas.

Got in it this morning and it's still shuddering, though much less than yesterday.

What else should I be checking? Top it off with fresh gas and keep running it?

How old was the gas?
If it was only a month old it should be fine.

If your check engine light flashed then there is probably a stored code.

Did you use a scan tool to figure out why the check engine light was flashing? I would also check to see if some woodland critter didn't decide to make your resting runner a home for that month period and chew through your wires. :sobbing:

Flashing CEL is a misfire. Usually caused by a bad plug, wires, coils, injector. Can also happen when a fuel pump is failing since its not supplying enough fuel causing misfires.

I would start at plugs and wires. Pull and inspect. If any moisture got in the plug tubes it can cause this.

I should add that 90% of the time, it runs fine. It's only during startup and hard acceleration that it shudders

Copy that. I'll take a look. I put new plugs/wires in about a year ago but I also put 40k miles on it since then.

You can also add a bottle or two of "dry gas" incase and moisture condensed in your tank while it sat. If you can't get it easily 6-8oz of acetone should absorb any water in your tank and sweeten the mix as well.
