I think my JBL is trying to tell me something.

Well that was weird. I just started my truck to leave work and when I started up my music I noticed I had no sound.

I use Google Play All Access on ny Note 3, paired with a Bluetooth to RF transmitter, so I checked all of that, then went to adjust the volume on the HU and it just stuck at "VOLUME 37" and wouldn't move at all with the knob or the steering wheel controls. I always leave it below 20 when I turn the truck off, and I tried a local FM radio station that's less than a mile away and still had zero sound.

After a few minutes of driving, nothing changed except that the volume control became completely unresponsive, and now nothing would happen if I pressed tune to adjust audio control options. Everything else continued to function normally.

I restarted the truck and everything is working fine now. I've had no noticeable symptoms of anything wrong either before or since this incident. The sound quality is kind of crappy, but I believe it has been operating at its full (limited) capability so far.

What do you all think? I'm thinking this ia an amp issue revealing itself? Anybody ever seen weird things like this before?

I've been considering installing the newer JBL head unit, but if there are other issues manifesting themselves I may spend the money and install a new system altogether.

That's a common bug with the JBL system. It will hang up or the volume knob won't work. All you have to do is turn the ignition key to the start position with the truck on and it will restart the radio. I don't think it's indicative of anything else, I believe that the issue is in the head unit, so replacing it might help.

Okay, thanks! I'm a little relieved, it's the first time that's ever happened since I've owned the truck. The audio project isn't in my plans or budget until I address some other things on the truck. More than likely I will be completely removing the JBL components and running new wiring, maybe this summer.

I also have the JBL and mine has done this before. Nothing to worry about.
