I won a set of 5100's!!.. vs. OME 90004?

I was in Denver over the weekend. And at the toytec customer day on Saturday, they had a few raffles going. I was given 3 tickets for the multi-prize free raffle. As I wasn't able to stay very long, and thought it was a "must be preset to win" kind of thing, I only filled out 1 ticket and gave the other 2 back..

Well, I just got a phone call from Chris at Toytec.. I won a set of front Bilstien 5100 shocks! I did however have to pay shipping, as I was supposed to swing by and pick them up.

These ones:

Which brings me to my question. I currently have the OME 90004 front shocks (pictured below). Now, I would like to hear from those that have the 5100 up front.. do you like the ride? Is it worth it for me to change these out and sell the OME? Or, should I just sell these brand new 5100's?

I have heard mixed opinions on OME vs Bilstien, and I will most likely get more of that here.

congrats on the win...i was too busy with kids to make it up there.
i can't comment on which is better as i've only had experience with the 5100s.
i can say that the 5100s were such an improvement over stock that the wife even noticed how much improved the ride was.

Nice win! I have the 5100's up front and I like them a lot. OME's in the rear and I've been thinking about swapping those out for a matching set. Never ridden in a Runner with the OME's up front, so I can't really compare the two.

Steve Shaeffer would say that those D-558 part number 5100's will make your 4Runner drive like a wet noodle.

Technically, the work on a 4runner, especially with stock bumpers. But I think they're a little soft in general. Better for a Tacoma.

not true. i know of many people who are running these shock on 3rd gens and there is nothing wrong with how they handle. they will probably be softer than the OME's but they are valved firmer than OEM shocks

So...will these work with stock coil springs + spacers up front which is my current set-up or do these provide a lift so I could run these with stock coils and no spacers?

Yeah these can lift, get these and ditch those spacers! There are a few lift heights depending on where you set the spring perch to be. I think its 0", 1.25", and 2.5". Plus they ride much better than stock.

I know you're selling them, but thought I'd post anyways and agree with Steeze about 'em. I have the 5100's and Tundra coils on my front end and love the feel of them. Those with the Blistein 5125's (and LC coils) in the back and I'm a happy camper! Actually, I just went camping this last weekend with that setup and pulling my pop-up. It was definitely a bit more "bouncy" with the pop-up on the tow hitch, but still very comfortable. Best of all, the truck sat level with the camper on there too!

That saved me a bit and motivated me to get the Rear shocks for the wife's Pre-Runner last night. I also ordered the ToyTech bushings for the tops of the Front Shocks to replace the old stock bushings.

I forgot to tell you guys, there was a little surprise in the box when I got them.

I must have been too excited to hear the guy on the phone correctly, but apparently I also got a set of rear 5125's! I checked the invoice and it was all there.

Now, the front 5100's are already SOLD and I already have 5125's on my rear. So.. they are for sale.

Nice, i would not have minded a free set of 5125's in my OME 906 box! Too bad i couldnt make it too this event, i was a bit far away. Thanks toytec i had great service ans the springs are great!
