ICON 4Runner Spotted

There is nothing more exciting than seeing a great looking 4Runner.

On our recent visit to ICON Vehicle Dynamics, we spotted the ICON Toyota 4Runner and had to take a closer look.

Here are some pics taken to share with the T4R Forum.

For those New to ICON Vehicle Dynamics;

ICON offers everything from replacement front and rear shocks, to complete suspension systems.

I like the look of the big lights but with the LED offerings running so much cooler, producing more light with less juice, whats the pros of running something like these?

I would argue cost, but that's obviously a non-issue on this rig. Personally, it seems like the more I research I do the more I hear/see that LED's still are struggling to 'throw' light like high-end and high-wattage halogens do. You have your rigid's etc. that are pretty good (maybe even better, I haven't personally seen one at night) at throwing light. But it appears for the most part that all these ultra bright LEDs don't actually light the surroundings as well as their halogen counterparts.

One example, possibly off base but all I have from personal experience right now, is LED reverse lights. I have LED reverse lights, they are super bright to the eye, but when it comes to actually lighting up outside the rear of my car, they haven't really helped me one bit over the original halogens that 'appear' dimmer.

From what I can tell, LEDs are great for ultra bright immediate vicinity lighting, but when it comes to spotting 100's of feet down the road, they aren't quite there yet.

Call me uneducated, off base, or a liar, I'm happy to hear/learn all I can from those willing to teach. I really like the look of LEDs personally, and the low power consumption is super appealing, so maybe I'm just reading/looking in the wrong areas.

You pretty much nailed it. LED are by far the most efficient, but in terms of distance and throw HID lighting systems are king.

If you look at most of the top competitors in Baja, they run LED bars on the front grille area and some across the windshield with a big rack of 9" KC or Baja Designs HIDs up top.
