Icon Lift Clunk

I just installed icon extended travel coil overs, tubular UCA's, 2" lift springs and icon 2.0 vs shocks while on vacation in Florida, i then drove the runner back home to Colorado and the ride was amazing but after getting it out on the trails here in Colorado ive started to notice a CLUNK at low speed usually when turning
has anyone else experienced this with this setup or have any ideas as to what i should look for? ive used the search but found no similar issues with this setup :behindsofa:

Thanks in advance.

It actually seems to be rather common to get clunks after lifting (See the 15 Pro threads)

Some causes are unknown but others are easier to find. Frequently the sway bar is to blame.

If you did NOT install the relocation brackets for the sway bar, it may be hitting the coil.

If you DID install the brackets, the swaybar may be hitting another part of the frame.

Your Wheel could be hitting some part of the new suspension near full lock.

Double check/retorque all bolts.

Etc...

Carefully examine all parts, especially with the tires turned and see if anything is close to touching or possibly see ding marks on any of the suspension parts, inner wheel area, sway bar or anything the sway bar comes close to etc...

is your UCA bolt for sure torqued? Also, is that picture at full droop or is it with weight on the ground?

I have ICON extended resi coilovers and have beat the piss out of them and not a peep besides the shock shaft slide into the body. Tap of white lithium and that noise goes away.

The sway bar relocation brackets are installed but it seems like it is still rubbing still. not sure exactly where its rubbing yet as im at work but i will be checking it out further as soon as i get home.

UCA is for sure torqued but i will triple check it! the picture is with weight on the ground. my xreas were blown in the rear and all the components were pretty worn out so it came up quite a bit with the new suspension

just remove the swaybar completely, you can thank me later.

Also where did you put your missalignment spacers?

I can take a picture of mine to compare.

I'm new to this so excuse my lack of knowledge. when you say missalignment spacers i assume ur talking about the spacers on the bottom bolt of the coil overs? I have the bigger spacer in the front as the instructions indicated.

as for the sway bar ill pull it off and see how i like it :high5:

id remove the sway bar and drive around and see if you can get it to clunk.

You're correct with the spacers. Some people still put them in backwards.

Ill take the sway bar off, see what happens and let you know if i still experience the CLUNK. Thanks for the Help!

Will there be more body roll without the sway bar, or will the coil overs prevent it?

I have a full Icon Stage II 3" ready to be installed, as soon as I find someone to remove the X-REAS and install it.

First I've heard of sway bar relocation, unless it's in one of the boxes and I haven't seen it yet.

Also need to pick up a diff drop kit.

There will still be slight body roll without the sway bar but it's very controlled and never tippy feeling. I take hard onramp corners at 40+ no problems and everything is stable and feels stable.

I took the sway bar off and drove around a bit. It feels a little different but I'm still hearing the same clunk I'm thinking about mounting my go pro down there to see if I can catch what's going on.

I'm having the same problem with nearly the same setup. Metal on metal knocking from front passenger coilover, whenever the suspension cycles. It's driving me crazy. Did you ever track down the noise? Mine happens at low speeds, even over tiny bumps/cracks in the road, and it doesn't matter if I'm turning or not. Off-road it's unbearable, even a graded fire road makes a racket. I removed the sway bar and front skids for a while and it didn't make a difference. I wanna believe it's not the Icons, but this started the first time they saw the dirt.

That sounds like something is loose or installed incorrectly.

Perhaps post a picture of your wheel well so we can see the suspension components and verify correct installation?

I'm having a similar problem that I've been chasing for months. I haven't been able to figure out what's going on. I did find out that one of my new coil over was leaking and has to be rebuilt. Not what I wanted to hear after buying a brand new icon setup but it has to be fixed. Mine doesn't happen all the time and I used a GoPro and took a bunch of video of different components. The videos didn't really help in my case.

Some guys are just telling me it's inherent to lifting a vehicle and offroading with it but I don't accept that.

At least one of my coilovers clank when fully extended because the bottom of the uniball cup hits the coil. I need to clock the coil a 1/4 turn so the uniball can squeeze in between coils. This also made it impossible to adjust the collar when I jacked the truck to full droop because it wanted to turn the spring. You guys might want to jack up your trucks and check for interference, or look for rubbing marks on the coil. I have aftermarket king coils around my coilover so they could potentially be a bit larger in diameter than stock coils maybe?

I wouldn't say it's completely normal. I don't have any knocks or bumps up front w/ my 2.5 extended length Icons, but I am running Camburg ball joint UCAs so not sure if that's part of the issue. I'm also not easy on my rig in the dirt. Sucks about the leak though. I've put a good 10k miles of beating mine up and they're solid.

Definitely sounds like something is loose. I'll post pics of the front end tonight when I get home. I've re-checked all the bolts down there 2 or 3 times now, and nothing is loose. That includes LCA bolts. I had my mechanic check everything before a road trip a few weeks ago, for peace of mind. He thinks it's either the shocks/spherical bearings, worn LCA bushing, or front CV (which has a pinhole leak). Too many people have no noises for me to accept this as normal. Maybe I'll try the GoPro down there. The suspension rides great, no issues there.
