Idiot at the intersection. New front bumper

Last week while leaving work a guy decided his phone was more important than the road. Once I saw him I slammed on the brakes and was able to change the outcome from being t-boned on the drivers side to him just taking out my front bumper. No one was hurt which was a sigh of relief. Now that most of the paper work is taken care of, I am thinking of upgraded to an aftermarket bumper. Doing some research online with some big name companies, I've noticed that their pictures are not the best for viewing in my opinion. If you have an after market bumper would you please share with a picture and the company to help me decide. Thanks!

P.s. Sorry for the cell pics..

Ouch!! that was quick thinking and braking on your part. Glad you are ok!

Appears that the front driver's side frame end (the place where an aftermarket bumper would mount) is damaged. Not that it matters. I'm sure it will get fixed since you'll need a lot more than just a replacement bumper to get her back in shape.

As far as aftermarket bumpers go, I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the "big 3", CBI, Demello, or Shrockworks.

I love my bumper from addicted off-road. It has been great. It gives a lot of ground clearance.

Glad your ok. Insurance will probably total it. I have bought two that were totaled with frame damage in the exact place.

Surprisingly they are not totaling it. There was no damage to the frame but the bumper brackets were bent a little bit. I think the man reason for this is that instead of other driver hitting me I actually hit him in the side. Since I was aggressively braking he only took my front bumper with him down the road. And it was his fault because he ran the red light

About every day i have a near miss, from someone playing with their phones.
There swinging into my lane or just running a light, turning in front of me, or just sitting at a green light, then when they get a honk just rush forward in to traffic.
Makes be very fearful to drive my 4Runner, and keeps me driving my old Nissian Maxima.

For me it was worth the wait. Shrockworks makes a great bumper, and I have heard the same about Demello. I have had my SW for almost 2 years or so now, after a guy ran into me. Was only $200 more than the factory bumper.

Years ago when we had steel chrome bumpers.they got reformed many times re chrome plated. You paid $75 to $100 and were rolling on again.
Even if you had to replace it,it still was not over $200, today these foam filled plastic bumpers run in the thousands of dollars. It's a simple rip off IMHO.
