idle adjust help

yes I did do a search,

2000 v6 auto
before I messed with things the car idled at about 1100 to 1200 rpmthe Haynes manual said it should idle between 650 and 700

what I did this weekend
got rid of the k&n filter
cleaned the maf and the throttle body ran seafoam through the pvc port
new pvc valve
new fuel filter
it had a new MAF installed 40k ago at dealer, as well as head gaskets, plugs, wires, injection cleaner, timing belt, etc, before the previous owner sold it, I have the records

no check lights
( I also added a trans cooler should have nothgin to do with it)

first start idled about 1500
took for a drive, got up to temp, got back, still idles about 1200
checked for vac leakes with the old carb cleaner trick...no leaks

Im gonna go change tranny fluid one more time to finish a flush. and install lower skid plate under engine
during this Ill disconnect the battery,,,read somewhere it might need to reset itself

any ideas ?

I read that there is a idle screw on throttle body.....cant find
if true....where

ok.... ive been looking for a screw, like phillips head of flat head

found the small brass colored allen head adjustment with a locknut
hope that's it, will try when im done doing other stuffs.

There is no idle speed adjustment of the V6. Did you check carefully for vacuum leaks or mie-routed hoses? Clean and test your IAC valve?

Like he said, the ECU controls the idel.

I suspect that after cleaning the throttle body now it doesn't close properly and is letting air in when it shouldn't. There have been a few threads where this happened to people who cleaned their TB with quite a few miles on it.

Idle adjust screw is for the pre-1996 2nd Gen 4Runners on the 3VZ-E and 22-RE engines. Sometimes searching can lead you astray if you don't pay close attention to the year or generation being mentioned, since that info is for an older engine.

A few things to check:

1. Is your throttle cable too tight? Can the throttle body close all the way?
2. I know on the 3VZ-E engine (pre-1996) you sometimes had to oil the valve in the throttle body to keep it from sticking. Just a drop or two would do it. Haven't really seen that happen on our 4Runners but it can't hurt anything.
3. Have you checked or cleaned your idle air control valve like others mentioned? All it does is control air at idle, which is the problem you are experiencing.

Check this thread below - also, definitely check the IAC... just remember if you pull it to clean it, get a new gasket for it. The original won't go back on...

Based on my very limited experience with mine:
Is the throttle butterfly closing all the way at idle?
Can you grab the external shaft part of the throttle and force it by hand to close all the way, lowering the idle in the process?
There are screws that *can* adjust the resting(closed) position of the throttle butterfly, but they're located on the backside(rear) of the TB assembly.
Whether Toyota intended those screws to be used to adjust the throttle position, I do not know.
I couldn't even see them until I had the shop replace the TB(which comes with a new IAC and TPS) and was able to examine the old TB in my hands.

so what should a v6 auto idle at when in park ?
