Hi guys i have a 96 runner 4x4 3.4 sr5 im having a bad iddle issue, when I drive its fine but when pulling to a red light or anything that makes the vehicle stop in drive it bounces of idle 2-3x and then shuts off. I have
- increased the idle
- replaced upstream 02 sensor
- cleaned MAFS
- cleaned throttle boddy
- replaced cracked intake tube
- seafoam
- replaced TPS
- Replaced IDAC sensor
- replaced vacuum hoses that were easy to reach on top of the engine at auto part store hoping it would fix it but no...

any ideas? lol code its throws is a P1035 evap heater purge flow something

I thought P1035 was a bad upstream O2 sensor?

.....did this issue suddenly come out of nowhere or has it been misbehaving for some time?

Having the same problem...sorta...mine runs great until it heats up in city traffic on a warm 80+ degree day and only at stop in gear with AC off. If AC on or in park or neutral the idle is just high enough that it won't die. no codes or engine lights. Someone told me that if the trans. fluid is overfilled when it expands it makes the engine choke and act this way, (this wasn't the prob.) , then I started thinking about a trans. cooler anyway cause it does get really hot here in north Texas. I too have tried most everything else.

Look into cleaning your Idle Air Control valve. It's located on the underside of the throttle body, you'll see the holes leading into it from inside the body. Four screws hold it in place. If it is clogged or corroded or the IAC doesn't open at idle like it should it will die, since the engine gets no air.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Use that can of MAF and spray it on the end of each vacuum hose. If the idle changes there's a leak.
