Idle issues

So, I've started getting some odd idle issues, along with a check engine light which comes out to be knock sensor 1&2 codes, and hot start problem. It will idle at 1100 in drive sitting in traffic, and about 2k when in park and neutral, then drop to about 1600 some times in neutral or park.

I started by searching, and it seamed the PCV valve, and vacuum leaks, along with the IAC valve could be the problems that cause it all.

I believe this is the IAC vavle, and it should shut all the way if I'm not mistaken?

This is as far as it will shut. It was also quite dirty. I cleaned it with some intake cleaner. Does it just need replaced?

I did my valve cover gaskets because they were leaking pretty bad, I also replaced the PCV valve and grommet, along with it's vacuum line. I also did about three other vacuum lines that were cracked or very hard.

Any advice would be great.

mine didnt shut all the way, but I could move if all the way shut. There was a small gap like you show.

I cleaned it with brake cleaner, tested IAC with 12V source, replaced the seal, replaced and correctly oriented the TB gasket and solved my idle issue.

I might pull it off and test it then.

Resolved it I think. I didn't plug in the sensors connector when putting the motor back together, now the check engine light is off. I changed a whole bunch of vacuum hoses that seemed a little looser or harder than they shoot be. Not it idles better in all ranges. well see if it's really fixed for not yet.

How difficult was replacing the valve cover gaskets? I've watched videos and read up on it a lot but I figured it would be good to know from someone else who has done it. Mine are leaking and I need to replace them just haven't had time to do it lately.

They take a good bit of time, but aren't that 'hard'. I made a few rookie mistakes. I put the spark plug gaskets in the valve cover backwards for some reason. I also torqued one side of the cover down before the other like an idiot and broke a valve cover (luckily the pick and pull had one).

It's not hard, just takes some time. took me about 6 hours total, not counting my rookie mistakes.
