Idle Revving High?

So, I did a pretty thorough tune-up today (sparks, wires, throttle body clean-up, new PVC valve, MAF sensor clean-up, EFI sensor re-set, k&n filter re-charge, and oil change), and everything appears to be functioning properly except that my truck is idling at about 1500 rpm now.

It was idling at around 1000 rpm prior to the work I did today.

Not sure why that is, because I didn't tighten the throttle cable at all.

Any ideas?

How deep did you go cleaning the TB? May have pushed some of that junk down into the IAC valve. If you did not remove that for cleaning, you may consider taking off the IAC valve to spray out the small passages in it really well.

Hmm...hadn't heard of the IAC valve. Just looked it up in the forum. Guess I should remove the TB before cleaning in the future. I'll pull it off and check out the IAC. Saw a pretty good write-up on cleaning it.

Looked like I could just remove the air intake hose attached to the TB without removing the entire intake system, right?

Since we're talking about it, what should the idle be at? 750? 1000?

700 is what to aim for at idle.

Yep, clean the IAC (under the TB), then clear the memory by removing the negative battery cable. Also check to make sure all your vacuum hoses are hooked up.

UPDATE:

Just drove to work and it's settled down quite a bit. Was idling under 1000 after a 30-minute drive in. Maybe just had to give the EFI sensor time to figure things out?

I would suspect that some gunk worked itself loose. If the idle speed stays down, I wouldn't worry about out.

Thanks, all. It apparently worked itself out. It's idling exactly at 700 now after it's warmed up.

ah I think I got my answer too.. I did clean my MAF and TB (without detaching it) before and my idling rev seemed higher...
