I did something similar on my lifted Titan; put a blind flange on so I could have either my flowmaster 50's or straight pipes. Best part was that the outlet was right under the front passenger door at car level so when I downshifted, traffic got an ear full!

they make a contraption called a butterfly valve especially for this. My buddy with the Camaro just got two put in, so that he can be "sound legal" when the 5-0 comes around, but straight piped whenever he wants to wake the neighborhood. Very cool system, and works remotely.
