I've owned my 4runner for awhile but this was the first time I had taken it on a real off road trail and man was it a blast! It really makes me want to lift it but I just think it would tempt me to do things that I shouldn't do. :roadkill:

Anyone know of any good trails around Boulder that can be done with a stock setup? I've gone on some forest access roads that are fun but they just don't quite quench my off road thirst.

Yeah, Traildamage.com is definitely a great site. That's the one I always use.

And I'd stick around a max rating of 3 or 4 in stock form if you're new to 4wheeling. There's a lot of nice trails around boulder to check out!

everything starts with a lift...then some tires...and maybe a supercharger..why not some armor?? winch?...eh heck...you can stil daily drive a tank

Switzerland trail is pretty easy and has some stuff you can play around on. Its right outside of Gold hill. Left Hand Canyon is fun too

Waldorf and Mt McClellan outside of Georgetown are excellent! I've been up there the past few weekends (great place to take out of town friends looking for a backcountry experience) with my stock '02 Sport. The first few switchbacks off of Guanella Pass are the 'toughest' part of the whole trip....unless you take some side roads (Please, please stay on numbered roads). There are some good rough spots where you need to go carefully, but they are side roads and are not required. The road to Mt. McClellan is a great 'shelf' road and easy to do with a stock vehicle. Probably best to avoid Argentine Pass and Ganley Mountain unless you are running with someone else. Actually - avoid Ganley Mountain all together - it is closed due to a snow field and backing up is a bit of a white knuckler.
