Imploded windshield washer fluid bottle

Has this happened to any of you before!
This jug was just sitting on the shelf in my garage for maybe six months? The deformation caused fluid seepage, as well.

Hmmm...

I think the bottle was only half full of liquid and there was a temperature change. When the air in the bottle changed temps it caused a lower pressure inside the bottle which, because of outside air being of greater pressure than the inside bottle air, caused the bottle to contract. The "wrinkling" of the bottle contracting caused a stress induced crack allowing the fluid to leak out.

Anyway, I thought the bottle had not been opened. So, I checked it last night and sure enough, the seal was still in place (though obviously not completely). But as I removed the cap, I heard a release of air, the bottle made a popping sound and a large hole appeared in one of the creases (seen at the left of the attache photo). Fortunately, there was an empty bucket nearby to place the bottle in, as washer fluid gushed out. There are more than a dozen different bottles in the garage, sealed and opened and none of them are deformed.
