Finally bit the bullet and bought my dream (affordable) vehicle. I've been wanting a T4R since I was a kid. It was kind of an impulse buy that occurred spur of the moment. What triggered the purchase was when Knoxville, TN got its first big snow storm for the year.
I was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V 6-speed with almost balding tires. You can already guess that it was a disaster waiting to happen. Long story short, I got lucky and only did a 180 spin downhill through an intersection with a red light. I came to a complete and regained control of the car before it hit the sidewalk. It was definitely a scare.
I immediately hit the internet to find a decent 4WD truck/suv. I found a nice Xterra at CarMax, but it would have needed to be transferred to my local store. Went to the local CarMax the next day to get my car appraised for trade-in. I saw the 4Runner just before I left the house, so I knew I wanted to check it out while I was there. When I saw it in person, I immediately fell in love. It was the exact 4Runner I had been dreaming of. I initially planned on doing a somewhat equal trade with my car to an older, higher mileage Xterra, but when I saw the 4Runner, I couldn't care less how much it cost. I went ahead and purchased it thinking I could return it within 5 days if I changed my mind (one of the wonderful things about buying from CarMax, although their service department is a whole other story/nightmare). Obviously, I ended up keeping it. I am a proud owner going on 2 months, 7 days now.
Going to the local dealer right now to get it's first 5K mile service. Looking forward to my time here at t4r.org!

Mods so far:
removed running boards, tinted front windows+windshield, chrome door and hitch handles, chrome fuel door, alma mater front license plate
Future mods:
Lift kit, tires, Weathertec mats (didn't come with a carpet cargo mat), cargo privacy cover (didn't come with one either), paint running boards and roof rack black (to match Urban Runner appearance)... the list continues the more I surf on t4r.org!
