In your opinion, which kit would provide the smoothest ride?

Some background....

I will be lifting my truck soon and I need to make a choice. It is a 2014 RWD SR5 with 275/65/18 Falken Wildpeaks AT3W (C). I live in South Florida and this is my daily vehicle which spends most of its life mall crawling and on the highway.

I want to do a mild lift (1.75 front/1 rear) but I would like to know which lift setup would provide me with the smoothest ride for my specific situation. I don't need high spring rates since I barely carry any weight in the back aside from your groceries, stroller, etc....

Any info on experience would be helpful. Thanks

I am putting Fox 2.5 extended travels on as soon as they get to me. I can let you know how they ride, I had a rough country spacer lift and it was awful which I expected but I wanted to get my tires and wheels on so I could sell my stock stuff while they were brand new to get better money out of them, which it all worked out. All the information that I have read seems like Fox, King or Icon are the way to go.

Why do so many people create threads on topics that have been discussed hundreds of time... Do some research and you'll find all the answers you need.

Asking someone for opinion on the ride quality is going to vary from person to person. What may be a smooth ride for me may not be smooth for someone else. As WVSR5P17' state, he had the rough country set up and said ride was horrible while others have said ride was "great" or "amazing" on the same set up. My advice is do your own research and from there, determine what is best fit for your needs. If you did some research, you would find that most would suggest going with the Bilstein if you are not looking for anything crazy. Again, do some research, this forum is loaded with great information and everything and anything I need has been found on this forum.

I would've liked your post a lot more, but I'm only allowed one. Lol.

You nailed it, do some research OP. A "smoother" ride is a personal preference. What I think is smooth could be harsh to you and so on.........

Spacer lift. Factory ride.

Icon or King

It seems you want a cosmetic lift rather than a functional lift. For your needs, stock would likely provide the smoothest ride. It’s the least cost, too.

Yea..its definitely cosmetic since I want to get rid of that nose down look. That's why I don't want anything crazy and I think a 1.75 lift in the front with a 1inch lift in the rear would do the trick.

I know for a fact that lifting would also firm up the ride, which im okay with. But given that some lifts have higher spring rates and different dampening ratings, I wanted to see which of those would provide a closer to stock ride.

Thanks for your input

Dobinson makes a super soft spring, at least thats what it looks like to me from the catalog. Why not leave the rear springs alone and lift the front .75? I haven't felt the 6112/5100 shocks but adding KYBs to my older 4runner made it ride stiffer, my guess is they are progressive shocks that slow down travel as they get compressed. Do the 6112/5100s do the same thing? mated with a soft spring might work well.

A 1" spacer up front on top of the strut maintains factory ride, but gives a 2" lift.

It is not firmer.

Drop thousands on King if you want, or if you can (I cannot), but a spacer will do all you ask.

Up to you.

I am also strongly considering this. I am looking at the cornfed .5 spacer which nets me a 1 inch lift in the front. This way I can leave the rear suspension untouched. Additionally, the cost of this setup is dramatically cheaper than the other lifts.

:wtf:Decisions....Decisions.

I put 5100's all around ... set the fronts @ .85 which leveled the car. The 5100's firmed up the ride a little, which I wanted, and reduced the dive a little, they have been perfect (for me) for >6 years.

You asked for "smooth". That is way too subjective a term. Like "rough", it is just impossible to quantify - as you can see, you'll get a wide variety of opinions. Don't forget, your tires have some effect too.

If you want smooth, get some TRD PRO take offs from someone on here.
