Inexpensive fix for saggy-butt syndrome and rough ride

So I've grown tired of riding the rear bumpstops and having a saggy ass. Now that some safety issues have been addressed, I spent a few bucks on the original rear suspension that had 368,000 miles on it.

Obviously I would love to drop a grand or so on a lift of my choice, but reality says I have about $125 to work with right now. This will hold me over until later this year when I can spend more for a full set up.

Despite warnings about Moog coils, I went ahead and bought a pair of coils plus a couple KYB gas-a-just shocks, and installed them yesterday. Even if they sag in a year—I'll have already gotten my $40 worth out of them.

Anyways, I put the springs and shocks in and....HOLY SHIT; truck rides so much better! I don't have to avoid certain roads or certain rough spots in the road anymore. My can of diet 7up isn't flat after two minutes of driving now either. Plus I don't have that saggy-butt syndrome anymore.

Well worth $125 and a few hours of my time.

Btw—reciprocating saw is definitely the way to go on the top shock stud.

Nice. Would be good to include the fender to hub measurement so other people will know if they'll end up level if they go this route. So many different ride heights over the years.:tea:

I also went the Moog route when I first bought my truck, along with KYB struts in front and Monroe adjustable air shocks in the back (made for a ford econoline as I recall). Definitely a MASSIVE improvement over the work out original stuff. Having said that, I'm planning on redoing the rear with OEM rear shocks and OEM '99 tall coils, to get to a 100% original Toyota ride.
