Injector Differences between years?

The local Pull-a-Part got a 1996 T4R in yesterday. Went there this morning to pull injectors to send off, have cleaned and keep on hand.

When I got to them, they did not look even remotely similar to the brown injectors on my 2000 T4R. Anyone have experience with this?

They changed in 1999 from green/grey tops to brown injectors with tan. Same cc's of flow though, or at least pretty darn close.

Thanks for the info! I am gonna wait until a 2000+ year model comes in and then pull em. I will send em off to be cleaned and refurbed and have on hand when needed.....getting paranoid I guess with 306K+ miles on the originals...

I have a late '99 with the brown injectors. My mechanic installed the greenish ones last year, when he was doing my valve cover gaskets. I was a little worried, but he's a Toyota Master Mechanic, so he knows his stuff (or so I'd like to believe). 30,000 miles later and it is still running well. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

As long as you have all of the same. It should be good. Mine has 2 holes only for the fuel to come out. The newer ones I think have 4 small holes.

I am new to this forum. I have been dealing with misfire error codes. I have narrowed it down to one injector, but here in Canada it is $250 for 1 fuel injector, so I bought a set on amazon that appeared identical to the 4-hole grey ones with the side hole. They just arrived today, but without opening up the bag, it seems that the side-holes (vacuum assist?) do not go completely through... will this mess everything up if my original set has the side-holes? Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these issues.

I would only trust those Amazon injectors enough to throw them in the trash... You can either have your stock ones cleaned and flow tested or get a refurbed set of injectors from Motorwest. The Motorwest injectors are from a newer Toyota that flow the same and have the same air assist, but are Denso instead of Aisin.
