Just wanted to share this incredible build that we got to spend some time with at Overland Expo West!

It's cool. Certainly not my cup of tea. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a smaller sized offroad oriented base vehicle when it's so overloaded. At least for me. I think a trailer could have been a lot better purchase for him. Or a tundra.

Excellent video as usual Jason. And to each his own as far as how how much gear anyone wants to bring on a trip. But it’s just way too much cow bell for me. I try to take just enough to be comfortable, but not enough to survive nuclear winter.

It's like my fondest memory of building a fort when I was a kid out of blankets and chairs that covered the whole living room...except there's a 4Runner in the middle of it.

I get a lot of responses like this - talking about something being too much, etc., etc. Interesting thing about camping with kids and/or a family is that you have a lot of other people’s expectations to manage. Would I (or nick) need all this if we were to go on a trip alone? Not likely. But if I were traveling across country, running 10,000 miles on a month long trip, with two kids and my wife, yea, might be nice.

Valid point. I'm not trying to keep kids occupied on road trips.

Overall nice rig, he definitely built a beast of a rig.

If overlanding means bolting as much stuff as possible to your car, that guy definitely won.

Funny thing all the people talking smack don't even know Nick and are talking about a person and rig they don't know. I know Nick personally and what I can say is he built his rig for his needs (his family the wife and 2 kids). He goes out and has gone out on more expeditions than most of you if not all! As far as wheeling goes he does wheel but isn't trying to be some rock crawler, he holds his own and honestly would never bash anyone else's setup. His setup works for him and he is one of the most humble helpful people I've met in the community. There are things that are not my taste or that I wouldn't do on his rig but that's why it's his and it works for him and works well at that! I've wheeled camped and conveyed with him and I'd rather have his experience, knowledge, and gear than most out there!

Great video! We enjoy watching your walk-arounds.

This shows just how diverse the approaches, needs, and wants are in overland equipment. Dare I say this gentleman and his family are towards the top of the scale? Looks comfortable!

We tend to be more towards the bottom of the scale. Coming right off thirty+ years of backpacking and canoe camping we're used to minimalism. Shoot, when we first started "overlanding" our big treat was being able to sleep on an air mattress instead of a 1" thick foam pad!
When others see our camping set-up I'm sure they think about how primitive and uncivilized it is.

It's everyone's uniqueness that makes life interesting. Hurray to those that take it to the limit!

Love your videos Jason, been watching them for a while now. This guy definitely has a passion and knows how to camp and travel in style. I could never imagine having that much handy stuff with me when camping, but this guy really knows how to roll and clearly has a passion for it. Thanks for sharing and glad to see you on the forum

but it would be airbag compatible for an airbag in an entirely different vehicle and seat
