Installing StopTech Braided Steel Brake Lines

I have decided to replace my 20 year old front brake lines with the StopTech Stainless steel braided lines. Centric (made by StopTech) used to be less expensive but not anymore.

Anyone else have experience with the StopTech's? If so, did you notice a difference? I have the 199mm Tundra upgrade on the front of my rig. Thanks for any input!

Also interested in this. I did the TBU but didn't replace the break line and from what I've read here it firms up the pedal even more.

I just did the 13WL brake caliper and rotor change about an hour ago...I did the Taco brake line from stop tech and it works perfect. I could use the stock mount for the hard line for the new line and it looped great. I got part number 950.44014 from stop tech, it eliminates the hard line so it banjos to the new caliper...you'll need 2 extra brass banjo washers so they don't bottom out in the caliper but they might not in the smaller caliper. I can try and get a pic but I have to use my old phone as it has a crap camera and is easy to upload.

Don’t know what the OP is waiting on, have had these on since 2014 with no problems. Soak them in some Liqui Moly, then install.

Overall, less pedal fade in the hot Southern climate.

I replace front and rear brake lines with stoptech stainless steel at the same time as I did the 199mm upgrade. The brake pedal is very responsive. No more mushy brakes.

Correction Little Caesar: You must BAKE them in LiquiMoly for optimum performance!

Little Caesar never forgets the additives I try out....it's a German additive (they make lots of them....)

Bake at 225 for 36 hours....LOL (This is joke guys........not serious at all)

what is the difference between 199 mm and the 13wl tundra brake upgrade? I need to do my brakes this summer.

Ill also change to braided steel lines when I do that most likely.

It's a casting number to order the brakes with to get the larger Tundra brakes...the 231 mm...199 is just a little smaller but since I'm running 18 inch wheels I can fit them no problem...I got all my brakes from one seller on Ebay called Brakemotive76...I got the powder coated calipers, crossdrilled and slotted black rotors and ceramic pads for 300$ delivered...I use these guys for most brake jobs I do weekly...I don't do links because if they change the sale page the link is no good...can search the seller up then search the store for tundra brakes...they got 2 sets to choose from...there's a couple great write ups in this site for the brake upgrade.

so 13WL is the larger 231mm? Will they fit with 17" wheels? If so ill go that route

Web site doesn't say or have option, Tech service not open today.

Wheelers has them, which I have used they are SS braided extended performed well. Price not bad.
ToyTec has them along with crazy price and shipping.

It is the larger of the 2 options...I think the 199 is needed with the stock wheels without spacers...I think the 231mm will fit on a 17...I got tons of room with mine at 18...search up the brake upgrade thread...more info than you'll ever need!!

I have these installed and can feel a firmer brake. I did this for two reasons: (1) update the 20 year old lines and (2) get a firmer brake.

For some reason, I have a "soft spot" in the middle of my braking. Firm on the start of the pedal push, soft in the middle and firm at the end. (I had this before the StopTech's). I have bled these brake at least 15 times and still have this weird mushy spot in the middle of a full brake thrust. Anyone know what causes this?

When I did mine a few days ago some air found it's way up to the abs motor...it would bleed on a few pumps, drive it and get weak then do it again...had my son pushing the pedal...I had to dig out my old brake bleeder to get it to break free and bleed out...not sure if you have one but it worked in about 5 minutes for both sides...it's a hose that plugs onto the bleeder then goes into a bottle that pushes the fluid out then sucks it back in when you move the pedal...I can't remember what tool guy I got it from and it's not marked to get a number off...I'll do a quick search and see if I can find it.

Found it...not sure if I'd buy it from this seller...never used them before but this is the KD tool 3982 that I use...have had it for probably 15 years...I like it since it's not vacuum it won't pull air into the system like my shop air vacuum tool does really bad...it works so good that I don't need anyone else to bleed brakes.

same size as stock from what i recall. make sure to change out front and rears to ss i only changed the front and i get pull when i brake.(im assuming its that)

Yea I don't like opening brake system any more than I have to. Rear axle I'm putting in soon will be dry, front diff swap happening same time.
Perfect time to change all four lines flush system. Had wheeler's lines on 96Red for 150k mi looked new, guess I'll go with what's worked.
