Insurance won't insure my lifted runner

I have esurance and was talking to a rep today about certain issues with my policy. Everything was going good until I mentioned that my runner was lifted. He explained that he could not insure my 4runner because it was modified...so now I have to drop this insurance company and find another one.

Any suggestions?

Find a better insurance company. I've been with State Farm since I had my first car. They've never once asked about any modifications to my vehicles. I've been hit in my lifted YJ, no issues. I rolled my YJ trying to avoid and idiot, no issues.

Or, you can ask him to point in the policy where it CLEARLY states that esurance will not insure a modified vehicle. This would also include anyone that has an aftermarket radio, or even other than stock wheels.

Yeah, he read me the policy and it says no "suspension modifications" allowed. He said that included bigger than stock tires, aftermarket control arms, and any other component that changes the suspension in any way. I'm off to find something else....State Farm is my first stop.

I have Mercury and they have photos of my modified runner and I have riders to insure many of the mods. Some things I couldn't get additional insurance to cover such as suspension and the winch, but the major armor pieces are all covered.

Shouldn't have told them it was lifted and modified? I haven't mentioned my truck being a beast to my insurance company. I'm not sure I want to.

We have been with State Farm for years and as you can see from our album all of our vehicles are lifted and modified. We even totaled a SASed Tacoma with Dana 60s and it was all covered, including the mods (with depreciation).

You won't regret State Farm if you own a modded truck.

If you're a veteran check out USAA as well. I've been with USAA for almost 30 years now - great company!

I would check progressive. They are by far the cheapest for me. My daily
driver at this time is an 07 Suburban 2500 that has been leveled, has larger
tires , KMC wheels and an edge tuner. Progressive has NEVER asked about
Mods on my vehicle

Yeah...I didn't do it on purpose. He asked about it, told me about rock crawling in South Dakota. I talked about my rig a minute...and then oh BTW since you told me blah blah no insurance....probably a Jeep guy.

To everyone saying "they cover my mods" if you are not paying for a rider to the policy for additional equipment you might want to check with the company/agent to make sure you are not just rolling the dice if you have a significant investment beyond just the trucks stock value.

X10 for State Farm. Been with them for 10 years and never had a problem. Ive never made a claim, but I was in an accident in my F150 years ago and my rates didnt even go up. I pay about $105/month with full coverage and $0 deductible on my '06.

Another vote for State Farm. I have been with them for 15 years and they have been great. I have had multiple agents since I have been with them due to military moves. Every agent that I have had has told me the same thing about modded vehicles. All I need to do is show proof of my modifications and they will cover it. Full coverage on 2 vehicles and renters insurance I pay just over $100 per month. I have yet to find anyone that can beat their price. Their customer service has been spot on any time I have had an issue as well.

What a douche. He could have easily "forgotten" about it.

Country, have my sons modified civic with no issues. Travelers was cheaper, but not as friendly to modified cars so I dropped them.

+1 for state farm! my '88 toy, '88 sami and my '99 runner all covered at one time or another when had them on the road. no questions asked about mods.

I also posted this in your other thread.

I have Allstate and about a year ago I rolled my FJ, while wheeling. When I lifted my FJ and put a bunch of other goodies on I called my agent told her I wheel and that I had bunch of aftermarket accessaries on it. She wrote me a policy for a stated value of up to $35k. When I rolled my FJ and it was deemed a total, they took kbb Plus how much my suspension, skids, snorkel, stereo, custom bumper, and winch cost new. All and all I got a check for $32k and was very very pleased how the whole process was handled. Oh and yes, I told them I was off-roading when I rolled it.
