Recently purchased an 01: Is it normal that the radio not illuminate?, I can't see it at night. In fact all the gauges are very dim.

theres a dimmer on the dash next to the steering wheel- try that first. If thats not the issue it would be the bulbs- I dont have a factory head unit, but the dash and ac unit lights are easy to replace. Check out the led stuff thats out there before you go with the factory green tho- some look really nice. If you do a search on here you should be able to find the write ups on changing the lights.

I have a 99, there should be a small round dial type switch on the dash to the lower left of the steering wheel to adjust brightness. Assuming you know about this and it does not solve the problem... . I carefully pulled my center counsole on my dash and replaced all of my dash bulbs. If it is a aftermarket radio - maybe the wire for the lights on the radio is not hooked up. If it is a factory radio - my guess is that it is burnt out and you will probably have to replace the entire radio.
