Is $12k for an 2005 4Runner Sport with 65k miles a good price?

Hey Guys,

The 4RUNNER is a 2005 not 2004, typed too fast.

New to the forum, looking for a 4Runner for a DD. How does the above price sound?

Truck had minor accident (on the Car Fax) scuff on right front bumper, small rust spot on rear tailgate near handle, mismatched tires but good thread.

Anything else to look for?

The price would be great if the rust wasn't there and the tires were matched. I would be worried about the maintenance history if the previous owner didn't know enough to keep the tires matched. I would pass.

I agree with your analysis of the tires, however, I believe the dealer (non Toyota) put on the two mismatched tires. The rear are newer Bridgestone Duelers, and the dealer put two Neptune Experience tires on the front. I could always negotiate that and put on a set of better tires.

Well I paid $12k for mine a year and a half ago, 100k miles, 2004 Sport Edition V8 4WD. It looks to me like with that low mileage its a pretty good deal. I would see if you could swing a matching set of tires, but make sure you get something that you are going to want further on down the road. If you think you might catch the mod bug, you don't want to end up with a set of nice highway tires and wish you had all-terrains... Good luck, you won't regret getting a 4Runner though, I sure haven't!

And mine had a remote start when I bought it, no issues, and it has been so handy in the snow!

i think its a fair price..chk toyota site for records and do a carfax too..that way you can see the maintainace 'records'..i bought my 05 sr5 113k miles truck for $12150 OTD in july

I payed 10K for my 03 V8 4X4 101K in march 2012. I think its a little high for the ware but its a Toyota and you will be the one driving it. be sure to got the TB/Water Pump replaced and you should be ok.

I paid $13k for mine. 2005 Sport V8, 4X4. with 125k miles. Only one owner, and in immaculate shape! Just for some comparison for you...

Not a bad price concidering the miles. I would always try to get down a little in price or get some tires out of them. But on the otherhand i dont know if i would let them just throw tires on for you. They will just put some p.o.s. Chinese tires on there. :redbrick:

Seems very reasonably priced to me. Who cares about mismatched tires, you can get a new set put on for cheap. If everything else seems OK, I say go for it.

Good price, IMO. Just paid $15k for mine with 48k miles. It's an 04 V8 4x4.

Have it checked by a mechanic. If it checks out, I'd pick it up, fix the rust, throw on some tires, and be done with it. All for about 13,500.

If he'll wiggle on the tires, even better. However, I find it hard to believe that a Toyota dealer would replace only two of the tires on a vehicle with full time 4wd. Just not smart...

The Toyota owners site is a great resource for maintenance info.

Update.....went to the dealer last night and they would not honor the price in their ad, which I had previously confirmed over the phone and email.

They wanted $2k more than the advertised price. They said price in ad is only for recent college grads and repeat buyers. I got fed up and walked out.

When I got home I looked at the ad again, thinking maybe I missed the "fine print". I have the ad and there is no fine print. Oh well, they lost a sale.

Back to the drawing board.

Was definitely underpriced. Still, keep looking and find out with no rust.
