Is it safe to start using synthetic oil for 1st time @ 140k miles?

I recently purchased a 2004 v8 limited with 130k miles have put on about 8k miles in the past 6 weeks and want will continue to drive this much going forward. I have always run Mobil 1 in all my cars but seem to remember being warned a while back about switching to Mobil 1 on higher mile cars. Does anyone know if this would create issues? Thanks for input.

No issues in switching to better oil - All my vehicles I buy used, and than immediately switch to premium syn. oil & filter.
- Mobile1 synthetic is fine - beats dino/conventional oil, hands down.

I don't care for more expensive high mileage oil...probably a marketing hype.
- as I often take my vehicles over 300,000 Km without any issues, before I sell them...motors still run perfect

I just use Amsoil a true synthetic or the Pennzoil Platinum® Full Synthetic motor oils with PurePlus™ Technology.
New Pennzoil base stock is clean natural gas / and I can find 5L jugs on sale.
- filters are synthetic media / Amsoil or WIX Platium
- 2nd best filters are WIX Gold / next best WIX Silver / WORST = cheap FRAM

Vehicle without warranty, I change oil every 12,000 Km...change at 8,000 KM, to honor extended warranty.
- my twin brother drives a lot of highway miles, uses only Amsoil oil & filter / he changes at +20,000 Km without issue
- as oil still has 1/2 it's honey color / his used 2000 GMC 4x4 truck, Jeep TJ and Honda CRV all have over 200 to 260,000 Km

So is the CAN Mobil 1 still the good stuff?
The US is no longer a true synthetic like back in the day, as it was once similar to Amsoil, which now there are even several grades of Amsoil.

That Synthetic word is really fuzzy...I am waiting on my first Blackstone report to see how well my old-school Castrol has held up

Just did a quick Google on 'best synthetic oils' and the consensus is this:

Mobile 1, Pennzoil MaxLife and Castrol Syntec are considered to be the better of the bunch. Doesn't mean others aren't valid, just have fewer benefits like optimum seal conditioning, best antioxidants, etc.

High mileage oils may reduce fuel mileage, which you're not going to see very likely, but add a layer of protection with their higher quality additives.

OCIs are not to be abused. Old oil increases viscosity, defeating its purpose. 10k is tops for highway drivers. 5k for everyone else, or until it takes on some opacity. Black oil is not a good target before changes. Wix, Purolator and OEM filters are recommended.

Yes it is safe to change over to synthetic oil.
