Is the TRAVALL Dog Barrier any good?

Hey all, I am just wondering if anyone has any experience with the travall dog barrier. I know there is a couple of previous threads around dog barricades and I have looked through them but didn’t see anything mentioned about this one. I am wanting a barricade that I can still put down the second row of seats and that will contain three dogs all about 60-70lbs.

No experience with it, but if you want to put the 2nd row seats down, wouldn't you want a barrier that fits right behind the front seats?

No, I want to be able to put the seats down to put luggage and their crates there while still keeping the dogs in the back. So I can still have storage in the vehicle while it is just my wife, me, and the dogs.

Are you specifically looking for a metal barrier? Myself, I'm going to be looking for a cargo net style barrier when I get my 4R.

Take a look at these. They have all kinds of different models. I have no idea how good they are, but they look really nice.

Thanks! Those are actually pretty awesome and cheaper than what I was looking at and probably more solid since it hooks in. I previously had not looked at those because I thought I saw you had to drill into the vehicle but this looks like no permanent changes.

I would love to know anyone else’s experience with this version of the raingler netting.

Some of their cargo nets require drilling a screw into the sheet metal behind the B pillar or in the rear.
But that isn't really a big deal and doesn't affect any structural intregity.

That is what I previously heard/read around their nets. Apparently they released a new version that requires no drilling. You add in anchors in some pre-existing spots.

The Heavy Duty Kit Beefy (with welded stainless D rings) uses the existing 14mm bolt on the upper seat belt anchor plate.

I recommend keeping them in crates. If you are in a wreck, the last thing you need is to worry about your dogs getting loose and in a panic, fleeing into traffic, getting lost, etc. The cage will offer a bit more security in this regards. This is assuming such commuting.

There are a few other threads on great dog crates and the like, but... if you decide to go with a barrier idea, the raingler works really well for me. The dogs can put a paw through and all, but it keeps them in the back, and it's really quick to put it in and out once you get the mounting clips attached to their various spots.

And it's useful for generally keeping crap in the back that might otherwise choose to go sailing forward under some circumstances. Loss of visibility is "moderate", but probably better than a metal mesh barrier.

The wife uses crates, but her Subaru has a rear view camera that bypasses the crates, so no blocked visibility.

Just to add some more data to this thread:

I purchased and installed the Travall dog guard on 2020 4Runner TRD

The directions aren’t great, and two of the plastic turn knobs provided do not seem to fit their paired M6 screws. After a trip to the big box hardware store for a couple M6 wing nuts (all I could find on short schedule, plan on replacing with something more aesthetically pleasing), the install proceeded relatively smoothly.

Plan on a 2-hour build and install if you don’t get your replacement M6 nuts ahead of time (one hour of build/installation and one hour of driving and shopping). I could do it in 20 minutes the second time around though.

The only contact points are four points near the rear window trim (2 each side) to keep the guard elevated off the floor.

The product is solid and performs as I hoped. I’m happy with the purchase and would do it again even with the minor complaints. For the money I shouldn’t have to buy my own tightener though...
