took a long trip in the last few days, I felt very uncomfortable no matter how I adjust the seat.
is there anyway to improve the comfortability of the seat...

You might want to take it to an upholstery shop and see if they can help you build a more comfortable seat padding. The foam in the stock seat may be worn out or not stiff enough for you needs.
I believe a few members have done this, I also am starting to find the seat to become slightly uncomfortable on long drives.

what and why was it uncomfortable?
I added washers to the front and extended bolts to lean my seat back more making my seat a lot better because of headroom issues and scrunching.

I am not sure there is any shop do that in this country (Canada),but worth to go check out.
wish I can put a Buick seat in it. lol
I did that in my last vehicle (jeep jk), but I doubt its the same issue on the 4runner. hard to explain, but the seat just feels not right

In my case, my seat was so uncomfortable and hard i used to get pains at the back of my thighs (06 sport with 34k miles at the time i bought it 3 years ago.) I got some leather clazzio seat covers, they have some slight padding and now the difference is like night and day. My suggestion wd be look into some covers i highly recommend the ones i have (pics in my album). good luck.

Does your seat feel sturdy? Meaning if you push down on the base of the seat firmly will it rock towards the floor considerably? I ask because several members, including myself, have found a cracked weld in the seat frame and a simple re-weld dramatically improved the comfort of the seat.

ya. this is a stupid question. cuz you dont test dive vehicles by driving long trips.

I wouldnt feel anything drive my 4runner for 130miles. I felt a bit of sore on my thigh area after a 350 miles trip with a few breaks.
139 miles is nothing man. I love my 4runner as much as you do, I just want to improve the comfortability so I can love my rig more.
but again, not all sellers will let potential buyers to test drive that long :car:

I'm OK but my wife still complains about the passenger seat. She reclines the seat and uses a wedge/cushion from the Healthy Back store.

i have never heard of anyone taking a vehicle for a test drive for up to 3 or more hours and putting that kind of mileage on a used vehicle. my father and grandfather owned two dealerships and if anyone took a vehicle for that long the police would be called. most of the time the salesman would ride along.
you must have known someone at the dealer.
to the original OP. it has been a known issure for some of us that the seats are not the most comfortable ones around. if you are taller its worse. i have a shop near me that is going to try to modify the foam in my seat to give it a little more support on the bottom and sides(i need a new leather cover anyway).
are the seats in a Tacoma roughly about the same? is there more support with those seats?

I know no one at the dealers. I've even taken vehicles home over the weekend. There are a couple of dealers near me that will only let me take a short drive. And I won't buy from them. And the people I know who did end up buying from them...regretted it. They were a sleaze outfit. Almost everything problem they had under warranty they had to fight to get them to fix it.
These dealers in NH ALL let us take extended drives...no hassle what-so-ever.
Rockingham Toyota in Salem NH.
Ira Lexus in Manchester NH.
Honda Barn in Salem NH.
Merchants Nissan in Concord NH.
Call them up and find out for yourself.

I do not understand what it is with d-bags like you. We come to the forum looking for answer to the questions we have. If you do not have any real answers to contribute to the actual question then move along instead of posting some smart ass reply...
Anyhow,
I too have problems with my seat. The cushion has separated on the backing exposing the metal behind it. I am going to have mine re-cushioned soon. Any idea on what that cost for those of you who have done something like this?

Some have mentioned installing Lexus seats in other threads so that might be something to look into however my seats seem quite comfortable even on long trips.
