Is this a good deal? 2000 SR5 V6 with 137k miles

The 99 Limited with 197k miles passed the PPI, though the mechanic recommends new rotors and pads up front along with a new air filter. I tried negotiating down $300 and we landed on $200. I plan to pick it up on Saturday!

In case anyone was curious about the 2000 SR5 @ 137k miles, I was able to get more photos from the dealer. For those familiar with undercarriage rust, is this something you'd walk away from, or does it still seem like a decent deal? The vehicle is for sale at Adventure Motors in Kansas City - sincere thanks to those who PM'd me rather than letting the cat out of the bag in the thread :)

Thanks, everyone, for all the feedback.

I was able to get the full Carfax this morning and sure enough, the vehicle spent all of its life in PA as well as having been involved in a rear impact accident way back in 2000. They said the rear bumper was replaced but the rest of the paint in the rear (hatch, quarters, etc.) are factory paint. I've asked for photos of the undercarriage and engine bay. The accident doesn't concern me nearly as much as the potential for widespread rust. It seems strange for a single owner to sell at such low miles if the vehicle is otherwise running fine.

The OG owner probably traded it in & the dealership put this truck up for auction. Then this used lot doubled the price they payed for it. I wouldn't touch it without frame pics being a PA vehicle.

That PA bubbling frame was painted over to hide the rust.

My gut was right soon as I saw those PA inspection stickers you made the right choice.

Its funny that you mentioned this, I owned a 2016 quicksand TRD Pro and didn't want to live with payments. I've always wanted a low mileage 4wd 3rd gen and finally found one and then sold the TRD Pro to relieve myself of the burden.

Sorry to Hijacking this thread. But I would say if it has no record of accidents and no major rust concerns, and full maintenance record I would go for it!

I work from home, and I travel a lot by plane. So I average about 4,500 miles driven on my personal car. Most of the time my car sits in the garage. This is more of a toy for me to tinker with, and I’m fine with fixing problems here and there to restore/make better, whenever I have the time. I’ve driven the fifth gen and I know they’re super capable off-road, but I’m not climbing Moab or trekking through the Amazon. I want a car that can handle Tahoe in the winter, some fire roads to get to some MTB trails.

The point is to now exactly what it is that you want. I wanted a 3rd gen for a long time. I’ve always liked the body style, and I would have looked at a 96-98 pre-facelift version, as I’m not a fan of the fat lips front bumper (this will be gone eventually), but I still have one kid in the child seat, and I wanted a 2001-2002 for the seatback latch, which was added in 2001.

Varol1: keep looking and be choosy. Find the exact one you want and then go for it. I had no reservations about mine having 180k on the clock. It was in very good shape mechanically. If it’s mechanically sound, and no electrical gremlins, then the rest are all fixable/replaceable...suspension, interior, tires, whatever.

Only 2 places with multiple pictures I want to see. The rear differential cover and the inner half of the frame by the rear lower control arm opposite the muffler. Convenient that the seller didn't take those shots especially that they seem to be a Toyota enthusiast. The fresh paint is another red flag.

Nice 99 T4R! Good pick! ****The 2000 from PA - stay away from and glad you did! Congrats on your purchase today!
