Is this price crazy? 99 limited

First post here. In my shopping for a gen 3 or 4 4Runner the last few months, I've done a ton of reading here and think you guys have a really awesome forum. I wish my other car forums (classic Mustangs and Saturn's) were this quality!

I'm looking at a 99 Limited 4WD that is really in great condition. It has 47000 miles (which seems to be confirmed by the service records I found via the VIN and condition of the car) and is super clean. The seller is being firm on the price at $15000.

This is well over any appraisal I'm seeing online (KBB, Edmunds, NADA). About $5k really...

Even though there aren't a lot of miles, 14 year old coolant, transmission fluid, belts, hoses etc. will need to be replaced. I think the car has better value than blue book, but I cant get to $15k. Isnt this price crazy?

If you're thinking "it depends on the condition", let me tell you, the condition is practically mint...

Any strong opinions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's outrageous. Even though it has low miles, I'd hold out for a $7-9k 4runner in the same condition. Miles are over rated in these 4runners.. You can find one with 100k and the truck would still be getting broken in the the PO took care of it well. The truck is worth what people are willing to pay for it...nothing more.

Rust to me typically means it was driven in/near saltwater a lot, or was not a PNW rig.





You guys fail to realize that markets are all different, and considering that the rig actually sold for $15k it was not overpriced at all. A 4runner in TX is worth less than a 4runner in WA. You should see our FJ/FZJ-80 market. It's even worse.

The biggest turn off I'm seeing (in 4th gen trucks -03 -05) is rust in the engine compartment of a lot of these cars. Some of the clips/brackets that are holding cables and hoses are almost eaten through and then down on the frames and motor mounts. Its much more than surface rust...

I was not expecting that to be a big issue. Its a major red flag for me, am I making too much out of it?

Rust is a long time problem with Toyotas.
