Is this the PID is use for my 2000 trans temp?

I want to to add the trans temp PID to my Torque Pro app using my S23 Plus.

Is this the process I use for my 3rd gen? I found this equation and process but its for a 4th gen so I'm not sure if its what I use.

Hit the menu button again, and choose "Add custom PID"

Hit "OK"

Under the first item called "OBD2 Mode and PID" enter "21d9"

Under "long name" choose whatever you want. I typed in "Trans Custom"

Under "short name" choose whatever you want. I typed in "Trans"

Under "minimum value" leave it at "0" or type in "0"

Under "maximum value" type in "300"

Under "scale factor" leave it as "x1" or type in "x1"

Under "unit type" type in "F"

Here's the tricky part - under "equation" type this in, EXACTLY, without any spaces:

(((((G*256)+H)*(7/100))-400)/10)

That's *five* parentheses at the beginning! Just be sure that there are six total parentheses facing to the right, and six total to the left.

Leave the rest blank and hit "OK"

Now when you want to add a gauge to the display, you should see "Trans custom" or "Trans" or whatever you named it at the beginning. The darn thing works!!!!!

For reference, I have a 2008 V6, but I will assume the PID's are the same for others in this generation of 4Runners.

The 3rd gen and 4th gen PIDs are different, I believe. I only have the information for a Scangauge, which uses a different format for the PIDs and math.

Here's the info, if you have a way to translate that into what Torque needs, use this:

TXD: 686AF101B4
RXF: 044105B40000
RXD: 2808
MTH: 00090005FFD8

The math line (last one) is multiply by 9, divide by 5 and subtract 40. Subtracting 40 is needed since the "0" point of the reported data is is actually -40* F/C (the same temp). 9/5 is the ratio between *F and *C.

ModeandPID: 01B4
Formula: A*(9/5)-40
Min Value: 0
Max Value: 300 (or whatever you want)
Unit: °F

The coolant temp, air intake temp and trans temp should all match closely on a COLD start (within a few *F). If not, then something is wrong. Modern ECUs actually do this check internally and report errors if they don't match...

I have no idea if you're Torque Pro app is correct or not. If it's returning a value that makes sense, then it's probably correct. Easiest way to find out would be to find out what PID it's querying, and what formula it is applying, and see if it matches up to what I posted.
