not the first owner but i got mine in Jan 2004 with just 46,584 miles. 12 years & 4 months later, it's still at 95,652 miles.

- they designed the Gen3's, so close to perfect
- its more about keeping them for another decade or two / without a 2nd though of having the new car bug
My 2000 SR5 4x4 auto, was close to a 9.5 out of 10, when my dealer friend bought it through a Lexus/Toyota dealer-2-dealer auction, 1.5 yrs ago.
- one senior owner, with 80,4xx original miles / garage kept with very minimum driving, in the Northern winter salt belt...rare find up here.
After purchase, I tracked down the 70 y/o guy and we talked at length.
- he had an older Mercedes, that got driven, in increment weather
- he traded his pristine SR5, in on a brand new Toyota Corolla
Before he got off the phone, he said:
- "what was I thinking, I still miss driving it"....LOL..."who trades a 4Runner, for a new car" (??)

I finally got a couple of photos of the T4R....the red paint is looking a little faded, but still it is decent for a 20 year old truck!

That's a clean 97!
Maybe I'm just biased since I have a 97 too, but the 97's seem to be quite sturdy and long-lived. I just rolled my 97 over 425,000 miles this week. Still running strong!
With proper maintenance and a little luck – your truck could easily last another 20 years.

My old 97 had those same fog lights. Keep em in good condition, they're virtually impossible to find.

Interesting Richard - I changed the photos on Flickr to correct too much cyan and yet the photos from your links are the old ones!
However the corrected photos do show up on the latest postings....
How does that work?

And one of them has a cracked lens, likely from a rock. Oh well...it still lights up, and I do not use them all that much anyways.
