For those of you who are interested in going to Overland West in Flagstaff, AZ this year, I’m listing our itinerary for the trip down from Portland, OR. I will be working the booth for Teardrops NW - Salem, OR - Built to Order in Salem! - Offering New & Used RVs and More for Sale
All are welcome to join for any part of the trip, to and from. I will list the campsites we’ll be at to make it easier for those who also want to camp in the same location. Please plan accordingly with permits and necessary information to be on forest service roads in Arizona and Utah.
We will begin our trip on May 9th from Portland, OR
5/9 - We will leave and drive 10+ hours to get to Holbrook, ID and stay at Curlew Campground. We will be at site 001.
5/10 - We will leave and head to Buckhorn Draw Rd, Green River, UT 84525 and camp near Wedge Overlook, first come basis.
5/11 - We will head to Overland West (Fort Tuthill County Park, 2446 Fort Tuthill Loop, Flagstaff, AZ 86005) and set up the TeardropsNW booth 12pm-7pm
5/12-5/14 Overland West
We will stay there for the evening of the last day of the show.
5/15 - We begin our trip to Grand Canyon and will stay at the Mather Campground site 134 along the South Rim. We plan on doing some typical touristy things while on the south side.
5/16 - At some point, we’ll break camp and begin our trip to the North Rim and do some wheeling towards Point Sublime and set up camp and explore.
5/17 - Begin our journey to the cross roads at Jacob Lake and enter Cottonwood Canyon Rd. At this point, everything will be forest service roads in BLM land. Our intention is to drive along these roads and find a campsite along the way. This is going to involve over 100 miles of unknown terrain, so we will be prepared with chainsaws and ways around obstacles if necessary. There’s always a possibility we may need to back track as FS roads are unpredictable. Also, plan on having additional fuel as there are no services during this leg of the journey.
5/18 - Eventually arrive at Kodachrome Basin along Cottonwood Canyon and camp at site 13.
5/19 - Will will stay at the same location as we intend to hike Willis Creek and Bull Valley Gorge. Both of which are known for their slot canyons.
5/20 - Head toward Bryce Canyon NP and be tourists again for a day. Plan on camping at North or Sunset Campground, first come.
5/21 - Slowly begin our journey back. Have lunch in Salt Lake City, then camp somewhere in Idaho.
5/22 - At this point, depending on how we feel, either crank it on home to PDX or find another place to camp for the night between Idaho and eastern Oregon.
Again, anyone and everyone is welcome to join us on this trip. I wanted to let everyone know our itinerary so you can prepare ahead of time.
