ITT Tech Closes Doors For Good - U.S. Dept. of Education Investigates

Nationally. I see state school commercials all the time. UW. WSU. CWU.

Ditto, but typically these commercials bookend NCAA televised events where a sportball team from one of the schools being advertised is playing.

I don't remember seeing one in recent memory outside of one of those events.

This was very predictable if you are a long timer in the IT world. From an outsiders view the market was getting saturated with low level technical people. It was inevitable that too many people in the game would dilute the market and drive down wages. My brother asked me about ITT tech about 6 or 8 years ago and I told him to stay away. Your education needs to come from a real university that has some staying power. Not for profit universities are a great place to start and definitely stay away from schools that advertise.

I am a UT Alumni and I know I received an excellent education. For the past few years I have been a recruiter and hiring manager and it absolutely amazes me at some of the people that claim to have "degrees" from for-profit colleges. Many of the "graduates" I have dealt with write at a 4th grade level. I have no idea how they even graduated highschool.

And I know I'm not alone when I say this, but 100% of the applicants I see that are from "For-Profit Universities" go straight to the trash. I wont even waste my time with a phone interview anymore.

I went to ITT tech once, I was considering signing up to get some certifications for some IT stuff I wanted to do...

After one interview with the counselor, discussing strategy and pricing I didn't get the warm and fuzzy I was looking for... I told her you dont seem like a good fit, good luck, and went out the door.

Appears my instincts were correct.

If the school has commercials on television, it's probably shady as hell. JMO.
