Tonight I took delivery of a 1999 SR5 with 158,000 miles in really great condition. When I showed up at the dealership, they had it on the lift replacing the brakes for me. So I got a good look around under the truck and couldn't find much wrong. The pinch weld behind the running boards is starting to rust and a few minor spots of surface rust but all in all a great truck.

How long do the factory spark plugs last? The last service was at 60,000 miles. I have to assume they are close to toast by now with a 100,000 miles on them. The new radiator and spark plugs have been ordered. Also need to do the differential breather relocation once the weather improves.

All I can say is wow! These trucks drive so nice and feel solid. I wish I had bought one sooner.

Congratulations and welcome to being a T4R owner. It seriously is a great feeling to own such a special utilitarian vehicle. Nice color too. Great canvas for many, many things to come. :banana: If I were you, I would replace the wires as well as plugs. they aren't that difficult and there is plenty of write ups on here as well.
 
Minus our previous encounters, welcome to 4runner ownership! Looks good. Same thing I have minus the flares.

The plugs are $2.44 I believe at the dealer and the wires are $27.xx on Amazon. Do it!

Congrats and welcome. Doesnt look like anyone answered the plug question but i think it is safe to assume it is time at 100k. Is that when the timing belt was done as well or has it never been done? Register the vin at the toyota owner's website and you should be able to see dealer performed service history there.

I thought my post said to replace them and the wires... So it answered the question ...............Kinda :p ;):
 
Looks good, congrats. I'd say it's time for plugs and wires. For a few more bucks, do the fuel filter and air filter too. Might as well clean the throttle body and MAF too.

Kinda, yeh. Actually, it kinda didn't need to be answered, he figured it out for himself. Even the longest lasting plugs need to be changed at 100k. I just hope, for his sake, they aren't fused to the block by now. LOL
 
:bravo: ... looks good! Congrats and, as others have said, welcome to the club. Once a Toyota SUV gets in your blood you'll never look back ...
 
Mods? Heck I have to catch up on the maitenance first. I spent all day saturday changing the diff x2, transfer case lube to mobil1, new radiator, flush PS and add an inline filter, differential breather mod( mine was sealed closed with rust and dirt. Next will be new wires and spark plugs, transmission flush, fuel filter, ball joints, etc.
