Mexico and South America are definitely on my bucket list, but I've got to get through North America first. I'm heading out to Table Rock in March to introduce my girlfriend to trad.

Table rock is awesome. When I lived in N.C. I made that trip several times! You'll enjoy it. I never climbed there, just ran the trail. It's an epic place!
I did introduce my wife to Table Rocks that has one easiest route like 5.2 and she hated it because she has the fear of heights. oh well. Try Linville Gorge. awesome trad and beautiful views.

So, over time I'm certain that one of the most useful additions was the awning. My only gripe was lighting. I needed at least 1 dual LED flood that could give me proper lighting underneath the awning when in use. During the past several trips I noticed that I would always get out of the truck, walk to the back, pop the hatch, and then walk back to the front, b/c I forgot to either switch my rear facing lights on or grab my headlamp. I remember on several occasions thinking how great it would be to have a led flood underneath the awning with the switch located in the rear somewhere. So, I ended up with one single row Rigid for about $90. I only installed 1, but I installed wiring for 4, just in case.....:naughty:
I'm all packed up and headed west for some rough roads/wilderness to test the lights and the platform. It should be a good 4 days! :banana:

It seems like the past few trips I've been heading to the beach in hopes of some great weather. Unfortunately the weather channel was wrong again as far as the number of sunny days, but the waves were definitely there. This time I chose to head to the Padre Island National Seashore. It's a stretch of beach about 60 miles long. You can practically do anything you want. In some ways it reminds me of the OBX, or Mexico...if you're able to go. I was surprised to see all of the wildlife along the beach. It gave me a chance to bust out the 800mm!

I am not sure where you are hosting these photos, but thank you. Afghan internet has nearly every photo sharing site blocked. Have you thought about ditching the surfboard and getting a kite? Surfside and south is good water for that!

hahaha, that was a fishing trip I took for "work". Thanks for checking out the photos brother! I've been surfing since I was 8ish, but I'm a product of the North Carolina coastline. I've been to Surfside a few times, but I prefer driving the coastline searching for a good sandbar.
Well, let me know when you get back in the USA and we can grab a beer and a surf. Stay safe out there brother!

Fasthawk? I have one I keep in my storage drawer along with the collapsable shovel and a SOG revolver which is a switchable fixed blade knife and saw combo (thought it would work out better than it did...wouldn't get it again).
On a different note, between you and my boss (who does professional photography on the side), y'all have inspired me to get my own DLSR and he's going to teach me to use it on our next travels. Going with a Canon 50D with a EF 28-135 - f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lense. Should be a fun set up and getting them slightly used makes that set up not too expensive (sub $600 surprisingly). Eventually when I get to know what I'm doing I want to add a EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM lense to my collection, but first, baby steps. Thanks again for the inspiration.

Ya, the SOG was a gift. I would probably never go out and buy one. I'm a Strider Knives guy....always have been, and I'm weary of carrying $500 breaching ax around with me. In the end the SOG has performed quite well and can be used for multiple tasks. I would definitely recommend it for over landing/car camping purposes. It has an fairly weighted head, so it swings well and (most importantly) it looks pretty cool!
