So most of the modding I do to the runner is purposeful, at least that's how I justify it in my head. For the past couple of weeks I've been looking for a shovel that would fit nicely in the runner. I realized that an E-Tool would work just fine and would be small/strong enough for anything I could toss at it. I ended up mounting it on the drivers side and honestly....I think it looks pretty good!

For you haters out there that think it's too small or impractical. I'm sure there are a few military guys on here that have moved mountains with these things or filled 1000's of sand bags. Either way...they're classic and awesome!

I keep a classic, triangle shaped handle e-tool, inside the driver's side rear wheel well. Still rocking alice clips.

Funny, that thing has saved my ass more times than I can count, and every time I use it, I curse myself for not bringing a full size shovel.

This thread got me pumped to get back outside more so with the warm weather and having today off I dusted off the mtb and hit Dakota Ridge near Golden, CO. I got totally humbled from a lack of cardio so far this winter and I've also decided I hate clipless shoes but I did snag a decent picture of Red Rocks so it wasn't a total bust...

Dakota ridge nearly killed me. Trying to haul down that rocky trail is damn near impossible. It is definitely fun though.

Good to know, never been, all I know is up until two weeks ago the Wasatch looked pretty much the same. :madgrin:

It is, I believe the Jake is on his way out West (or so it seems I read a few posts back), someone posted "Hit the Sierras..." with a picture, I commented on said picture No-hijacking involved.

I still have 4 ETools. My kids take them to the beach to dig, it is funny to watch the other kids with little plastic shovels getting jealous

Those are very cool tools. I have the exact same hatchet and similar shovel. When we got caught in the snow on Bolem Pass a few months ago (with [MENTION=46576]jrob[/MENTION]), that's what we used to chop/dig. So now I have put a full size shovel (spade) and axe on the roof. The small tools just didn't do the job on a 6" tree and a lot of snow. Each to his own, of course, and I will still carry the little guys as backup. :yo:

Well, I added some clips to secure my ax and it seemed to hold up well over the weekend.

Mind sharing where you sourced those clips?

Hey Gents! Sorry I've been a little detached lately. I didn't get to take off as planned due to some personal reasons. However, I was able to explore some new spots in Northwest Texas. There are some pretty epic towns out there. It was cool seeing signs stating "Population 30"!!! I also threw a little wrench in my "nomad" life style by adopting a little doberman puppy. :redbrick: I honesty have no idea what I was thinking, but the breeder was awesome and her parents were ridiculously huge! Last night I camped out with the pup on the beach....it was interesting to say the least!

That's gonna be great bonding for the dog. Mine loves camping so much it's ridiculous. When I ask him if he wants to go to bed he runs to the bottom of the RTT ladder and waits for me to carry him up. Dogs in the tent make a great "critter" alarm too.
