Funny, I was just playing with a Leica camera, holy cow those things are fing impressive!!! Soooo sharp. A whole another world of camera. Such a pain to operate though.

If you are upgrading cameras I think I speak for many folks when I say we expect to see at least twice as many pictures going forward!
This thread has inspired me to do a week long road/camping trip in about a month, western Colorado, Moab, then coming back through southern Colorado with the wife (no kids!). I've been to all these areas but always just biking, we are camping, hiking, and some off-roading! (She wanted to sit on a beach at an all inclusive resort, she is being a good sport though as SHE will be the one taking pictures along the way)

It's not always the camera body Danny...sharpness is mostly in the lens; get a nice sharp prime lens for whatever body you shoot, and I'm pretty sure you'd be just as impressed

I know nothing about cameras so take this with a grain of salt but my friend is a regional manager at Sony and he says the high end stuff that Nikon makes is basically a Sony. Lower end Nikon is supposedly not as good.

I'm sure your friend isn't biased at all
The sensors in the Nikon D600 and D800 are made by Sony. They're the same sensors as in the Sony A7 and A7R respectively.

Also, someone else commented on Leica, would be curious to get your take on it.

I shoot canon and if I didnt have so much invested in lens I would jump ship. I find the Nikon interface is more user friendly, more feature rich. Canon I think still makes better glass in the L series line

I apologize for the disappearance. A lot of "life" stuff (if that makes any sense) has been going on for the past few weeks. So after figuring everything out, I decided that I was in desperate need of a trip. I'm going to let this one run a little longer than usual. I was thinking 2.5 to 3 weeks :high5:
