Great pics! What is that you have hanging off your rear bumper?
Not to be outdone I got a new camera last week:

hahhaaha!!!!

I'm assuming you're talking about the yakima bike rack and the 2 cable locks. My good friend (who also owns a 5th gen) was on a road trip with his family and someone stole his and his kids bikes (including the rack), so I've gone a little overboard.

Ditto on the Instagramming - Great pics as always!

How you liking the Sony vs. your old gear? I thought you were making the transition to Nikon?

I rented a bunch of Nikon equipment and something about it didn't seem right. I think was just used to having canon gear for so long, and I have a lot of great lenses that I just couldn't break away from.

The sony A7, A7s, A7R are fantastic. I have configured the buttons to mimic my 1D/5D so the learning curve wasn't as steep as I thought it would be. I also bought an adapter so I can still use all of my old lenses. Oh, and the size....the sony is small, light, and built strong. :guitar2:

Not sure about the A7s, but the A7 is the same sensor as the D600/610 and the A7R is the same sensor as the D800/800E, though without the AA filter like the 800E. I haven't heard anything about whether there's equivalents to the D750 and D810 sensors yet.

Ya, it was more of a configuration/camera feel than anything. I'm not a pixel hunter, so these cameras are well worth it. I just needed something smaller and lighter considering all of the glass I carry.

Inspiration

I just went through this whole thread and all I can say is WOW! Your photos and trips are inspirational. I got a Nikon D5100 last year and somehow it found its way to the back of my closet, well no more. My wife and I are avid outdoor enthusiast and live in Knoxville, TN and we just got our new 2014 Limited 4Runner, that we plan on making some mods to so that we can enjoy more of the NC, GA, and Tennessee mountains. Right now we spend most of our free time in Asheville and in Charlotte (my kids live there). We'd love to catch up sometime at the whitewater center or in Asheville to mountain bike and get some photography pointers and of course drink a beer. We're big mountain bikers and only recently started running, no where near your level of course. Keep the pics coming.

So I just wanted to let you know that while I'm deployed this thread has been an awesome way to vicariously live the adventure life. I'm planning trips and dreaming up new ideas for my 4R because of your thread. That and it's also making it pretty hard to be away from home, thanks man. Just kiddin, this thread is just what the world needs. Good times, Great Pics, Cute Pup, Fantastic Rig. Well thought out and planned traveling leads to some of the greatest adventures and it's awesome to be able to follow you as you explore Texas! Now I just need to get the heck out of California and do some exploring of my own when I return

Cheers,

Ben

Thanks Ben, that means a lot. You guys stay deadly and make it home safe!

hahahaha, she joined the "one man wolf pack" about 3 months ago. If she can deal with a dirtbag like me, then more power to her! :driving:
