so reading back you went with Sony gear? I am picking up an A7 this weekend... was really torn because I had my mind set on a Cannon 6D and have only shot Nikon in the past

Not gonna try to dissuade you from an A7 (it's a great camera and I have one myself) but make sure to check out the Nikon D750 too. The one down side to the A7 cameras is a lack of good glass other than the two available primes. There's a deal on for the D750 and 24-120 f4 that can't be beat right now.

You're right. The A7 series does have a lack of "great" glass. I feel like the 28-70 f3.5 that the a7 comes with is weak. I would only suggest an A7 to someone who is used to the big DSLRs and has several good lenses (any brand will do with the use of the adapters). On another note, if you're looking for a "point and shoot" I would stay away from the A7 series. They have been described as a "tripod" camera, and in many ways I would agree. They have so many settings and configurations that it would be a shame to shoot in just auto.

Yeah, the kit lens is pretty terrible and reviews for the Zeiss 24-70 aren't much better. The Zeiss 35 and 55 primes are excellent lenses but really pricey for what they are. And using third party lenses with the adapter means manual focus only, which is a turn off for most enthusiasts. I'd say if the average person wants full frame, look at the D750 or 6D instead. If you don't need full frame, there are lots of other good mirrorless cameras out there from Sony, Fuji, and Olympus.

Have to say best thread on the forum. I've always wondered how you decide where you're allowed to camp? Do you research the areas you're headed to or do u just set up camp where it seems safe? Camping in random places seem freaky to me. Do you carry "safety tools" with you when you travel besides your hatchet and shovel? Amazing photography and adventures ��

Yea the 750 seems to be the Nikon savor..
The D600 was poorly made and now is off the market.
I got the D610 and within a month the main/rear dial stopped working, just got it back from service.

Hopefully they spent some time on the 750 or else they are going to start loosing business, starting with me lol

My Colorado Brethren....

It looks like I may be moving to Denver pretty soon. As far as I'm concerned it's 100% concrete but a lot can happen in a short time. Well, when its all is said and done, I would like to meet up, maybe get some shots of your runner doing its thing. Nevertheless I'm stoked and I'm hoping it all works out!

I do a little research but nothing too serious. I typically camp where I end up and for the most part that's either a field, campground, or parking lot. Even when I went into Mexico last year I camped anywhere and everywhere. I had an amazing time and I wouldn't do it any other way.

I carry a pistol sometimes however I rarely conceal carry which means it's sitting in my truck, so it might as well be at home. I've only been in one situation that made me nervous however it was partially my fault and luckily I was carrying. Honestly, (and this is my personal opinion) I've been in some shitty places and in many ways I don't want to have to carry a pistol or AR just to go camping or running.
