I'll be there for a while!!

Nice!

I will return home from a 3-1/2 week photography road-trip either late Saturday or sometime Sunday (depending on my motivation level to get home).

PM me where you'll be next week and 11/8-11/9. Maybe we can do a photo hike or two. :)

I wanted to get a LED light bar for my Baja short rack, but worried about the weight of my canoe on it when I load the boat on the roof. I am guessing your kayak is far lighter than my canoe, but it never occurred to me the light bar could support weight? Any input on this? Thanks.

So, I actually discussed this with my buddy today who owns a taco. He was looking at some 40 inch light bars off of Amazon and he asked "how strong are yours?". Well, I bought mine from superbrightleds however, I don't think they make my model anymore. Mine are approaching the 2 year mark (I think). I have walked on them, used them as a step, they've supported 2 longboards, 2 standup paddle boards, a canoe, a kayak (not all at the same time) and some other crap I can't think of. I would have to say that the canoe was by far the heaviest. It did cause the light to shift downward slightly, but there was no physical damage. I will have to say that the light bar I have has held up very well, considering the crap I've thrown at it and the amount of time I've spent on the coast. If I could do it all over again, I don't know if I would get a light bar. I don't think they "throw" the light as far as I want. I've seen others out there with crazy lumen counts (which are every impressive/expensive) but they fall short of a great set of round lights. I suggest a good mix of round and LEDs. You'll flood the area with the LEDs and light the path far ahead with the rounds.

To all you light Nazis...this is my personal opinion, so let's not start a war. :usa2:

If camping in below freezing temps and on snow sound like fun just let me know, I usually hike or snowshoe in but I could car camp it as well. Might want to trade that surfboard for a snowboard though...

On the moab topic, 5th gen 2015 spring trip wheeling etc. sounds like it's been proposed!

I'm in TX, but I travel a lot. I was born in NC, and I make that journey as much as possible.

Check out the Pisgah National forest. Miles and miles of old logging roads and great camping.

Roseboro RD in Linville is where I like to start:

185 Old House Gap Rd
Pisgah National Forest, Linville, NC 28646

The picture is from Old House Gap Rd. It runs along water the entire time, so if you like to fish, bring your gear!

Great shot! Is there a higher res version? amazing!

I picked up a box for my move to CO. It actually fits pretty well and leaves some room for other stuff if I need it. :tea:
