FJ-80s have serviceable wheel bearings and the 100 series LCs have serviceable bearings in the front.

the 100's i did not know, however the last 80 series was made in 1996 as a 1997 model year, which is just a few days shy of 20 years ago

I had to do one last solo trip before my buddy shows up tonight and we start our overland/mountaineering/ski/snowboard/beer fest. :barf:

Started skiing at daybreak, so I could get back to the office to make a 9am meeting.

Holding up...no. I've blown out two of them already, but EB has a 100% returns, so I keep going back. The 1st was returned within a day...I was a little tough on it. Overall, it's a great jacket. I've used it mainly when skiing and climbing. If the temp is 20 degrees or lower it's a great top layer when doing strenuous activity. I usually wear it over a smart wool t-shirt and it's fine. I've found that 10 degrees and below it's PERFECT! Anything above 20 and it's too hot.

I've only aired down twice (I think) and none of them were in snow. Once in Southwest Texas and the other in AZ near Sedona I think. Both involved hours of dirt roads and I was just attempting to reduce the beating I was going to take. I'm almost 100% certain I've never aired down while driving on the beach either. I guess the duratracs were just that good! As far as driving in the snow...no I've yet to air down, mainly due to the fact that I'm skiing 5-7 days a week and airing up and down that much would drive me crazy. Throttle control, 4x4, good driving techniques, trail knowledge, weather forecasts, and knowing when to quit, keeps me safe...for the most part. I've had my fair share of bumps and bruises, but nothing serious and nothing involving another vehicle.

So, the skinny VS wide tire thing in mud/snow has been talked about for years. Skinny tires dig..while wider tires float...blah blah blah...In my opinion, the 255/80s have slightly better traction than the 285/70s. I feel as if the cooper ST MAXX and the Duratracs have "somewhat" similar tread patterns (others may disagree...but whatever) but overall I've seen an improvement in snow and mud since switching to the Coopers. I've kept both sets around 40PSI. I don't like the skinny look, however the performance I've "felt" is impressive enough for me to look past it.

I have the same jacket, same color, sans hood. It's a good jacket for what it is but the devil is in the details. It's not a premium jacket to me--the cuffs give it away in that they are not elastic and also there's no drawstring in the waist, among other nitpicks. But even with all that, it's a great "tweener" jacket for active stuff. However, I'll wear the stuffing out of it anyways, especially since I won it in a drawing at the store! :biggrin2:

Canon 5dMKIII with the full suite of lenses and a Sony A7 with a few old school manual everything lenses with adapters. It's actually kind of funny, because the last several pages of my thread are shot with full manual lenses. Set the F-Stop...gauge the focus...and hope for the best!

Oh, and I don't know what "PP" stands for?? I'm going to assume Personal Photography??? If so...the answer is very little. Most of the shots I take for the thread are candid and fun. I carry a camera with me everywhere, which is usually stashed away in my truck. However, I'm not the "lets take a photo!!" guy...
