J-BlickPhoto Thread

Seriously, J-BlickPhoto, next time I come back home to Colorado you are on the top of my list for people I would love to meet. I would love to do 1/100 of the stuff you post on here and IG... that is a new goal for me. :D

How f'in awesome. Anti-poaching patrol! Also amazing to see that Lee-Enfield, (SMLE) rifle still in service. Hope they got them some poachers.

Jake, all I'm saying is that you better get some babies going (with maybe soon-to-be-Mrs-Blick), because the amazing stories that make up your life NEED to inspire a kid.

It may be a tad early, but I'm nominating you for coolest grandpa ever! Don't let the nomination go to waste! :juggle::usa2::high5:

Okki

This is the second time I'm commenting on this: back up your repel. It's not that ****ing hard. Do I have to repeat that "climbing is an inherently dangerous sport.." BS? Think of the impact an accident would have on not just yourself, but the people who love you. Consider also those who look upon you as an example. Set a good one. Safety is paramount, and redundancy is necessary, so even if you have a fireman's from below, you can't rely on them to correct your mistakes.

1. You don't have to repeat anything.

2. There's an auto block in my right hand...it's connected to my leg loop with a locking biner. It's a picture. It's the angle. YOU CAN'T SEE IT.

3. We shot this several times. Yes, the first time I rapped off the V-threads I didn't block it, however the next 2 shots I did. I'm being honest.

4. You're the reason I hate climbers, skydivers, etc., and why I choose to do most of my hobbies alone. There are 1000's of ways to skin a cat. While I was in the military, I was never taught to backup my rappel. In no way am I saying that this is right or wrong (I would consider it more wrong than right), however, sometimes you have to take into account a persons background, which also plays into their thought process and the manner in which they do things. I often inherently do stupid shit, because in retrospect, rappelling without an auto block is less dangerous than jumping from a plane at night with a full combat load. Luckily, my climbing partner is my girlfriend who often calls me out immediately.

5. NOT A SINGLE PERSON SHOULD BE TAKING TECHNICAL ADVICE FROM ME OR USING WHAT THEY SEE IN MY IMAGES AS GOSPEL. I have been doing most of these activities for years now, however I am not a certified mountain guide and I'm only as strong as the professionals from which I have learned from as well as my own personal research. I will say that I spend almost every night obsessing on how to improve my technical skills when it comes to climbing, skydiving, skiing, mountaineering, or whatever else I'm looking to accomplish...and no I don't watch youtube...I read books and seek professional instruction.

6. We all do shit in the mountains and a lot of what people see is perspective. What makes someone do "dangerous" things OVER and OVER again? It's their perspective on the inherent risk involved in the activity.

7. Don't comment about what my loved ones think about me. It's not your place. I don't even know who you are.

8. Thanks for looking out.

End Rant.

Excellent images. Working my way through the 32 pages of the thread now. I could take a lesson or two from ya!

Completely understand the rant. I follow you more on Instagram since I'm not here as much, you and an old boss are what inspired me to take up hobby photography. Looking forward to documenting my adventures with the wife and pups after this deployment wraps up. Thanks for the posts and congrats on Overland Journal, didn't catch that one on the gram.

I didn't know J-Blicks father was on the forum as well...

I just have to point out, that was a very sound response J-BlickPhoto ... I would not have been as pleasant and to the point. Good man.

The lack of 4Runners in Nepal is a good thing in the land of no roads. Everest makes a "small" appearance over my left shoulder.

Great things are done when men and mountains meet.

It's been a while!

It's good to see the thread is packed as usual. A lot of new members and killer builds.

I haven't posted in a while, but everything is going well and the 4Runner is still going strong. She's tired, but still chugging along well. My GF and I have been skiing and climbing like crazed maniacs and the 4runner has once again proven itself as the perfect home away from home. I hope everyone is doing well!
