JBL Software Upgrade

Does anyone know if software upgrades are available for the JBL in a 2011 Limited? I am looking for a better smart phone interface like entune has. With enture it is 2 steps instead of 6 steps on the JBL. Does anyone have a newer version of the JBL and can share if the voice activated phone has improved?

I agree it does suck don't it, no matter how I go about it or who I ask it to call it always wants to call "Paul ***** :wtf:

I think what you see is what you get but if you do find new firmware please do share it with the rest of us.

I have a 2012 with JBL and have zero issues. I would like if I could update the NAVI part because we have some new roads in the area and it tells me I am off roading and I need to get a major road.

For the person with 2012 JBL, have you used the voice command to call on a phone. Must you use "Dial By Name" or can you just say call "the actual persons name." I agree that the nav is not bad, but the phone in the 2011 version is clumsy.

Any updates to this

At times when I plug in my iphone (ipod use), it will not recognize it, if I unplug it and immediately plug it back in it works. Surely there has to be a firmware upgrade for the JBL system. I have a 10 4R limited. I'd also like to solely use the bluetooth for both phone and ipod functionality.

A very relevant post here. I was just thinking the other day about how ridiculous this phone system on the 2011 Navi is! Having to go through 6 steps to just dial the number is a pain!

One other option to plugging your iPhone, is to Air-Stream your music (ex. Pandora, Sirus XM, Music stored in iPhone). The 2011 - 2012 JBL system supports Air-Streaming. Works through Bluetooth. If i recall it was not to difficult to set-up. It works without fail.

As for the USER Options while in motion, the system is setup NOT to allow you to use the nav, dialing options, etc... it greys out those options. You can override this as i did long ago. I purchased a device from Prestigious Society, which is simply plug and play. it provides a 5 min window to dial, search out POI, type in addresses, etc, just as if you were in a stationary position. If the 5 min is not sufficient, you just activate it again to continue imputing information.

These two enhancements will bring new life to your JBL system.

Hope this helps...
