Joshua Tree Area Off-Roading?

I'm heading up to Palm Springs this weekend and plan to visit Joshua Tree while I'm up there. I was wondering if anyone knew of any semi-difficult to moderate trails in that area.

I don't know them but they are there! Lots of old mines out that way that have some pretty fun acces roads! They were fun and chalenging in the runner when it was o 265/75/16 BFG AT's. I spent one day out there and found 3 fun mine roads and a flash flood wash that took us clean out of the prk to a highway! That was a cool trail!

berdoo canyon is the only thing out there that would even possibly require 4x4 and the spot that would is a about 20 ft long. i did that once when my truck was stock and It was enough for the rest of my life.

Did you have a 4x4?

Ya. But the truck was a completely stock 3rd gen on 31's. The "tough spot" if thats what you want to call it is right at the top (beginning) if you were to go from Joshua tree down towards the low desert. I think a 2wd could easily go down it. Going up you may need 4wd. I think if you decide to go check it out just go down it and make sure someone in the group has a 4x4 just in case.

It may have changed condition but i remember a very long sand wash that was relatively bumpy. it was not very scenic. I would say rattlesnake canyon going up to big bear from johnson valley would be about the same level and way nicer. were all different maybe someone enjoys berdoo.

I really want to run cake walk, but I'm a couple months away from that.

cougar buttes is no big deal at all. Just sliders and you can run most of the stuff out that way. there are some hard spots on cakewalk and bull frog, but basically anything can be bypassed out there. THey are not like other trails where you have to basically go start to finish. you can generally turn off a section every few hundred feet and be on 2wd capable trails.

If you ever want to go out there hit me up, im sure we could get a good little run together with some other people on here. I have spent way too many days out there :)
