Just had 4Runner lifted:VSC OFF, CEL, VSC TRAC, etc lights popped up!

Went to pick my 4Runner up from the mechanic who installed my Bilstein shocks and rear lift, and saw a row of lights pop up: VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, ABS, etc..

I went back in, and he hooked up his little machine to the car to read the codes, said it could be a sensor and told me to come back in on Monday.

Then, after about 40 minutes of driving, the CHECK ENGINE light came on.

Just wondering if any of you have seen these lights pop up right after lifting your vehicles and if there's a "different fix" than what this mechanic might find?

Theres a very good chance that the mechanic damaged an ABS sensor while installing your lift. They are delicate little things and installing a lift without knowing to protect them can result in the problem you are having.

Is that an easy fix? How much would I expect to pay for the part?

Also, any idea as to how I'd know for sure?

I know that it does have something to do with a sensor on the left side-according to the little tablet reader he plugged in.

Would there be any other sensor it could have affected to cause that type of error?

As stated, most likely the ABS sensor wire. Damaged mine during an install, was about $45 to replace. You can also try to find the damaged section and splice in new wire for just that section. I did this at first and it worked great. It seems my ABS was a little over active, so I ended up replacing the wire thinking maybe it was related (it wasn't). Follow this method to verify it's the ABS wire.

I would definitely say just make sure they fix and pay for it 100%.

Okay, so took it back yesterday, the mechanic put in a new ABS wire sensor...cleared the codes. All was well...

Until today, ALL the same warnings popped up EXCEPT the ABS warning light.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

Check your gas cap, if its loose it will throw evap codes that result in the light show.
