Just installed my AVS AeroSkin Hood Protector

It looks really good. You almost can't see it in the first photo.
Was it easy to install? How long did it take?
These things save a lot of nicks and bug marks on the leading edge of the hood. My 20 year old 4x4 is really pitted.

I suspect you can since its probably mold injected and a big sticky piece is added afterwards.

but I would have tried to remove it before installing it, but then again it might be easier installed so you have a hard surface behind it to help with the removal process.

probably the same sticky 3M adhesive as they use for the vent visors and/or external decals for vehicles.

Ya, have to agree. It looks as good as a hood protector can, but that logo reminds me of a wart on an otherwise-handsome nose.

The manufacturer needs his pee-pee whacked for doing that.

I installed one on Tuesday. Took all of 10 minutes, and that includes the 5 minutes it took to find one of the screws when I dropped it.

There are 6 screw mounts that plug into existing holes in the hood. You then line up the deflector with the hood/holes and screw it in, with a washer between the screw head and the deflector. The most difficult part is holding the deflector in place while you get a screw started. Once the first screw is in, the rest are easy as you're no longer trying to support the deflector and "screw" at the same time.

I did not mount the small bump stops on the hood. The deflector is so rigid and the gap is so large, I can't see how it will ever contact the hood.

You are thinking of the bug deflector. The skin is just adhesive.

Another option for the logo decal is to just paint it black.

I had one on my 2004 SR5 and didn't like how much it stuck out. But it did prevent rock from chipping the front edge of the hood.

Looks really good on your 4Runner! Now I too am interested in possibly adding that as well!

Neither - catastrofe mentioned the install for the bug deflector not the skin. The skin is adhesive only and requires no mounting hardware.

The skin has a 3M adhesive so no nuts or screws to attach. It usually takes 10 mins to install but I did it in about 20 mins because I wanted to be even and straight!

I just installed mine a few days ago, and I removed the "wart" on there. Well guess what? They etched their name into the damned plastic right where that stupid emblem was! So yes, you can remove it, but you will still see their name laser etched into the plastic!

Luckily, its not very noticeable, although I may just make me a tiny TRD sticker to go over it! If I'm gonna advertise, I might as well make it look like I was foolish enough to spend money for a TRD item!!!
