That video doesn't do it justice. How do you like it?

no thats actually me stock. i took that one so that i can compare it to my vortex muffler when i get it installed tomorrow morning. lol

why keep your factory muffler? is it worth money? other than scrap metal price? I'm assuming that's why the muffler shop would want it.

OK, so today has not been a fun day. I was suppose to get up this morning and get my new cherry bomb muffler installed but i'm actually getting the flu or something similar because i have a 100 degree fever and i'm achy all over and i have a sore throat etc etc. needless to say i'm unable to go down to the performance shop today and get my muffler installed, i'll let you guys know when i do. meanwhile i'm going back to bed.

Is the 2.25 diameter correct?

That is a great price! However I was under the assumption that the intlet and outlet diameter is 2.5 (this is what Jason Burtman is running). Will the vortex muffler on amazon (with the 2.25 diameter specs) work? Thanks for the insight.

Yes. 2.25" center and 2.25" offset will fit.

Hey Bret, what is the address of Prestons Wheels and Tires in SD? $42 sounds like a good price, I might go there too. Thanks. Get well!

well from what i had read and seen everyone else talk about either one will fit. the stock pipes are actually in metric units and the closest fit would be the 2.25" inlet/outlet however other ppl have used the 2.5 in and they said it works fine too. I'm going tomorrow morning now (wed) to get it installed and i'll ask the guy if 2.25" was the way to go or if i should have gotten the 2.5". Either way i'm sure they can make it work.

Stay away from Meineke. They will rip you off.

I got lucky with my stock muffler. I was in the parking lot about to leave when I decide I should keep it. Thank goodness.

I need to rephrase that. I did take my 4runner in there to get my headlights aimed and they did it for free. However it isn't perfect so I'm going to try AAA next. Last resort will probably be the dealership who wants $40.

Bretski- Hope ya feel better man.

hey guys. i just got the vortex muffler installed and man it sounds GREAT!

I LOVE It!!!

It has a nice and low rumble but then when you're cruising it seems to just kidna disappear but you still hear a slight "brrrr" when your going. its nice. I'll post some vids once i get the time to make some but prolly before the weekend is out. =)

Prestons is in La Mesa and here's their website

http://www.prestonstire.com/main.shtml

its right off the 8 freeway and all the guys there are super cool. Especially Randy who works up front at the desk and Shane who is the audio guy, he has helped me out a lot too. I def recommend these guys if you live in San Diego. I was in and out of there this morning all before my physics class started this morning. lol.

So there was no problem putting on the 2.25 diameter Vortex...how much did they charge for install? I'll be ordering mine tonight. Thanks for the Amazon info!

ya they had no problems!

Well they charge $85 an hour for labor and they estimated it would only take half an hour and to cut the old one off and weld the new one in so they made it $42.50 which seemed fair enough to me so i went for it. You can prolly get that kind of price at other places too but these guys did a good job on my dads lift so i figured they're worthy of doing my exhaust. Plus my friends dual exhaust he put on his Ranger sounds awesome and i knew they did a good job.

Glad you like it, man! It's definitely a nice addition you can make to your runner for a pretty low price. Well I guess I really lucked out when I found a place that would weld mine on for $20. :awais:
